So, first a humble request, while may not be a fair one since its Opengl/Minigl..
But could anyone show their Quake Timedemo demo1 fps ?

Mine 9250 XE reaches about 85-90 fps

And Quake Rally demo ? (timedemo QRDEM1)
Rally download link

Mine machine gets about 30-40 fps

@Trewq

25-30 FPS in 320x200 (WinUAE/OS4.1FE on Core i5-2500K 3.3 GHz).

Software rendering with softfloat FPU = slow (but playable ).

@Xmas87

I think most have 6 series cards, not the 7 series cards.
I have 7 series card in my PC, need to swap with my AmigaONE-X1000.

But what's the point of playing Quake in WinUae when you can just run it native?

I think the point here was to make a speed comparison between emulated PPC hardware and native. Also because you can.

But doesn't emulation run strictly under software renderer for 3D games? The original point of the thread was to compare Warp3D new drivers for RHD Southern Islands towards old R200 GFX cards (like the 9250).

@Thread

Interesting... so... can I use any of these on a Pegasos II with a PCI Xpress--->PCI Riser/Adapter?

Cheers,

Dragster

@Dragster

Unfortunately the Pegasos 2 can't see the card behind the PCI - PCIe adapter. The firmware would need to be updated to support such cards and that simply issn't going to happen.

@Trewq

Some Quake3 benchmarks on Amigans.net

SI GFX cards are great improvement in comparison to older R200. Even slooooow Warp3D achieves 2-3x better speed on Radeon HD 7750 against Radeon 9000. However, there is great room for improvements (MorphOS drivers for R400 GFX cards achieve 100+ FPS on PowerMac G5).

Edit: There is probably some bottle-neck:

Post 22 in above linked thread:

X1000 @1800mhz
Radeon R9 280 @ 850Mhz

Quake2

Texture quality = full
8-bit textures = yes
Sync every frame = no
Lockmode = manual

Map = Demo1

320x240 56.8fps
400x300 56.9fps
512x384 55.9fps
640x480 55.3fps
800x600 53.8fps
960x720 52.0fps
1024x768 51.5fps
1152x864 49.7fps
1280x960 48.4fps
1600x1200 43.8fps

Post 28:

Sam460ex - Radeon HD7750
Quake3

640x480 - 37.8 FPS
800x600 - 32.9 FPS
1024x768 - 31.6 FPS
1280x1024 - 29.9 FPS

I can confirm this. I spoke with the author of the 3d drivers for os4 (he has a pegaos 2 so its of course more in his interest to have this working lol) its a Firmware problem and there WONT be any firmware updates from bplan unless some slim chance there was some kind of bounty to have them do this.. (boy all that money for timberwolf sure could have been used for a lot of cool projects) but i highly doubt this as there isnt enough pegasos 2 nor os4 peg2 users to justify this. Which sucks because , to me, Peg2 is one of the best NG amiga platforms.

http://www.amigabounty.net/?function=viewproject&projectid=44

It was just 6732 EURO, that is just one or two month's pay.

I believe the original Mozilla bounty was bigger. If was it not splinted up, due to ongoing conflict between the camps. In the end the bounty was only 1/3 of what might have been collected.

The projects that collected the most money was the history films, about how great Amiga was back in 1980's and the Amiga book project.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&term=Amiga

People don't care about the future of Amiga, they only care about the past.
This is way everything need to be ported to 680x0, even if that’s impossible.

There is another effect also; people do not pay if it is optional, only 18 people donated for composition and video composition, and bug fixes for mplayer, out of 208 people who downloaded it, that is 8,65% of the people who use it has paid for the work. The rest did not pay anything for work put into liveforit-mplayer, 91.35% of people who use LiveForIt-Mplayer has not paid for the work done.

Sure it's not convenient to find the paypal button, you need find my blog or the developers web page, to actually find it. And who read "readme" files anyway.

kickstarters where an amount of money has to be collected, before the developer starts working on it, pays a lot more than bounties where it's just optional.

The only way to solve this problem is to put registration keys, and pop up's in software I guess. Or sell it in AmiStore if that’s possible. (aka non open source projects).
