Still 8mb fast and 1.5mb chip availlable.

Loads amigaworld 20sec not as fast than iBrowse, but amiga.org donloads, renders and displays in 30 seconds. Amiga.org is not that amiga friendly than amigaworld.

060 does everything of course faster.

@pavlor

i wouldnt expect much improvement. a.org is a hog. its already not a bad result in my eyes. especially its just on an 040..

also it looks like aga. wonder what mode and color depth this is. if so, costs extra time.

edit: no, sorry , cant be aga..

@wawa

It is AGA, only FBlit is running to save precisious chip RAM.

Screen mode is PAL hires laced 8bit (256 colors) (640x512)

I mentioned amiga.org because with iBrowse, speed difference is only few seconds compared to Netsurf. iBrowse stuggles with amiga.org more than amigaworld.net.

Here is amiga.org using 060 / RTG. It loads 21 seconds.

Here is amigaworld.net using same machine. It loads 16 seconds.

@utri007

alright, so its fblit that makes it go. aorg is certainly magnitudes heavier than aw.net even if it doesnt look so. aw.net displays even without css i guess and would look right in ibrowse. not so aorg. so as i said 30s are not a bad result considering color reduction on aga and the like.

Of course in not a answer. :) Ducktape compiles but doesn't work. Chris tries to figure out why, so it propably works some day.

By the way, DNADNL has made automated script to compile a NetSurf for AmigaOS3 (Cross-compilation Windows using Cygwin - AmigaOS3)

https://github.com/DNADNL/NetScript

Lots of people has tried to compile Netsurf and end up to have problems, so this makes compiling as easy it can be. Purpose it is to find more coders to help with Netsurf.

Chris has already made very good proof of consept.

It's probably worth pointing out that Javascript is not massively useful without a dynamic layout engine (scheduled for NetSurf 4.0). It helps with a few things, but it isn't a big loss.. yet.

If somebody can figure out why it doesn't work that will be helpful though! Currently it looks like clib2 is causing the problem, but need to find out exactly why.

My suspicion based on not being able to get any better logging out of Duktape, is that initialisation is failing because it's doing something which clib2 doesn't support - malloc(0) or that sort of edge case which might not be catered for.

@Raffaele

Netsurf tells time wich it had been using. So if you look, every picture has time in lower left corner.

it wasnt exactly lots, rather few. i have finally managed to compile netsurf without those scripts, because i missed on them, but admittedly its not easy, the information is spread in different locations, not everything is clear and you need to follow certain path. so, since ive set up another compiler environment now under ubuntu, im going to give these scripts a go.

I've tried to collate it all here:
http://wiki.netsurf-browser.org/Documentation/BuildingForAmigaOS

If there's anything missing or wrong, please add/modify that page.
