Hello,

I was trying the AMRSS RSS reader Amiga OS client, all seems nice, but when i "click" on "Update"; shows is downloading new feeds, then the AMRSS crash.

Anyone know what could be happening?.

Which others RSS clients option are for Amiga OS 3.X?

Regards.

AmRSS is broken, you may use XNet-RSS instead

@Sir_Lucas

No, it's for OS4 PPC only

@samo79
I did a bit of a research regarding AmRss and it seems that the program itself is fine.
The external MUI classes cause trouble. Anyway, have a look here:

http://www.amiga.org/forums/archive/index.php/t-39731.html

There's a script, an IRC script that can allow RSS.
http://aminet.net/package/comm/irc/IRCNews

You can add a lot of different RSS feeds. I've checked it and it works. However, it would be nice to have a XnetRSS ported to AmigaOS 3.x

it has nothing to do with the MUI classes. On my A4000 AmRSS won’t crash and everything works fine. But in my A1200 it won’t run. I have even copied the MUI classes from my A4000 over to the A1200. Still crashing. this is some nasty bug as i haven’t even been able to run AmRSS on a minimal 3.1 install, no patches, no nothing.

I also noticed in Snoopdos that the A1200 processes a lot more than the A4000 (3500 lines vs. 2300 lines)

And the A1200 will crash right after loading topaz6.font. When i delete that font it will load courier instead. Strange thing here is, that on the A4000 it’s not loading a font at all. There’s no snoopdos line showing a font load/open process. this is all very puzzling...

@Cego

I have been struggling with the same problem trying to get amRSS to work without crashing. Have you discovered any more details or possible a fix for this issue?

@Orphan264

sadly not :(
I think the program is broken by design. I get the error 80000006, which means that the program is allocating ram, which can't be accessed.

I think we'll need a new RSS client for OS3.x as amass is 11 years old. I don't think we'll get any bugfix

well, what a coincidence. I have just found an older version of amrss thanks to duckduckgo search engine. With this version i have no issues at all!

here you go. AmRSS 5.22

https://sourceforge.net/projects/amrss/files/amrss/
