Hi all.

My sam doesnt boot anymore . Not even from cd.
It says FLB : No SLB found in any designated boot source.

I wanted remove my SSD drive so i copied my sys partition to a previously used sys partition. And rebooted. Nothing...

I thought that something went wrong doing this. And tried booting from thhe reconnected SSD. Nothing....
Then i took my os4se disk but that doesnt help either.

I am at a loss here.

I hope anyone can help me out.

I hav a sil3114 with a sata drive and dvdrw connected. And the mentioned SSD.
Also i have a Sam 460 and just upgraded with the new fe update. Wich worked fine

Easiest would be to boot from cd and see if something trashed your hdd partition

or maybe first try and replug the sata cable

I got something similar time ago and I had to play a bit with the uboot settings before return to the normal behavior. Unfortunately I do not remember the details, but I think it is there that you have to dig.

Are you able to post a serial output of what uboot is saying?

I think before playing around with uboot (because it is easy to make a machine unbootable by doing that, I've done it both to my A1XE and a Sam460), check your cables and your sata card. Unplug them, plug them back in. It's recommended to use sata cables with clips to ensure they hold firm to the connector. Take the card out, clean the connectors with contact cleaner and plug it firmly back in.

Start with your sata cables, as they are the only things you've changed.

So I take the Sam has UBoot menus where you can pick boot source and make sure 3114 is picked? I wonder what port it means when it says SATA Device 0: Not available?

Reading from the guide, you can use onboard SATA or PCI SATA like you have set up.

If you had a USB/SD setup as emergency disk that would help as well.

The manual also says that the machine can't be turned off and on straight away. Did you wait 15 seconds and try again otherwise the onboard devices may not work correctly. It says.

I think you need to have the drives connected to the right ports.
If memory serves, you should put the boot drive on port zero.
Have a play round with the drives and the ports on your sata card, you should be fine.

Ok what is the boot drive here ? The DVD or the HD ?

I'll try that but when I reconnected the SDD it also didn't boot anymore.

If not, try selecting CD/DVD drive from the bootup if not booting from the HD.

I had the same problem ones i installed an extra ssd in my sam.
The whole problem was the sata cable connection.

Try to play with the sata cables
It did the trick for me and booting as before dvd and hdd ssd .

So you have two drives; one SSD/HDD and one DVD?

How many power cables and data cables respectively are connected? 2? 3? 4?

No.

My guess : change SATA cables or you changed your Uboot env variables.
If you still have a sii3114ide_conf env variable, I suggest that you remove it completely with :
setenv sii3114ide_conf
save
reset

Also I think I remember you need to connect the HD on a SATA port and the CD on another but should not mix this up. Check the manual.

you can use the following commands from the u-boot shell to see what is connected :

for the pci controller

sata info 0

for the onboard controller if active
