@newlight

silly questions but have you installed Warp3D from Amistore and updated your RadeonHD driver the full version?

@Severin

If you think about it, that is a pretty silly question actually.
Have you updated your brand new computer because it can't run the gaming software you want to use?

I understand the need to pay the developers of Warp3D and the new RadeonHD drivers, as Aeon isn't a charity.

But on new systems, wouldn't it make sense to charge slightly more, and bundle them with the systems, rather than suggest that buyer of brand new hardware immediately 'update'?

So, am I the only one that actually thinks this really IS a 'silly question'?

Or has the Amiga community mindset of self justification so clouded your sensibilities that you're missing how ironic this situation is?

@Beans

If A-Eon and Hyperion were one sole entity, it would be the case and the OS would be delivered with everything.

It is not and so we have to pay Hyperion fo the OS and A-Eon for enhancements.

But you already know all this, don't you ?

It's a moot point Beans/Iggy/Jim...

The dealers are including the AEon Enhancer Pack ( see your friend, Amiga on the Lake web site)

But you knew that.

By the way you miss your own point of supporting developers.

No, I don't miss it, I'm as big a fans of Han de Ruiter as the next guy, but my education is in business management, and the mistakes being made in marketing these new systems are huge.

And yes, Aaron has the intelligence to realize that the enhancer pack is a vital component needed by new users.

That doesn't just make him my friend, it makes him a smart businessman, and sharp marketer.

So, again my point, what part of "You need to update your new computer system" wasn't ludicrous?

1. newlight is in spain so its very unlikely that he bought it from aotl.

2. I have no idea whether he has purchased the ehancer pack or or the drivers seperately.

3. there is no mention of other 3D games working.

4. Start with the basic solutions before getting intto .so hell etc.

What is ludicrous is your blatent plugs for aotl and ensuing useless posts about yours, the guy wants help not adverts.

Edit: typos

You also need Warp3D for Radeon SI (above the Enhancer Software Pack).

Whatever...from the sound of it, he needs yet another 'upgrade' beyond the enhancer pack.
What you view as ludicrous and I view as the same appears to be vastly different.
But then, I'm not an apologist.

Anytime anyone criticizes something in the weird little protected universe of the OS4 community, you all bristle at the suggestion that things ought to be better.

It makes a good argument for NOT joining you (or at least limiting my contact to the less fanatical).

In the meanwhile, apparently the fellow that posted the original question has been pointed to the final 'upgrade' required for his new system.

You said that there is a crash. You should post the crashlog, it may lead to the solution.

Newlight, here it works as I have everything updated. I used to have issues with it once before they changed Warp3D for newer machines/gfx cards so I guess it's a driver issue.

@Beans

How is our situation different than having to install a gfx driver and then a physx driver? Other platforms simply got rid of the composition driver and emulate it or are simply the same company (which eventually caused a situation where it pushed out other's apis)

I get it you talk out of your ass but you might consider giving it a rest sometimes. I know, I sympathise. That's coming from a mental fanatic so you can take a hike and contemplate that.

We do need a few basic rules for .so installations.

@Srtest

I'm not sure I can even parse your comment, but I'm not going anywhere, particularly if that irritates you.
And the primary difference between the situations you mention? You don't have to pay for the additional drivers in the first example.

Rules? Who needs them if they're restrictive?

And a self avowed 'mental fanatic' telling me I'M 'talking out my ass'.
No, I'm just exposing you to a little reality.

Sounds like you could use it.

In the meanwhile, we ARE diverting from the question at hand.
So, unless you're back for more character assassination, or insults, I'm all for leaving this to those with a potential solution.

@Spectre660

Interesting reference. Not a new issue, eh?
That's discouraging.

All my diversion of this thread aside, you do need to put the time into solving a problem to reach a resolution. And follow any advice given.
And the community is wiling to help.

@newlight + Huno + all

I haven't played Smokin Guns for awhile but running it it crashes in libz.so.1.2.11.

Read below. (You have to get the old libz.so.1.2.3 and replace all links pointing to libz.so.1.2.11 pointing to libz.so.1.2.3 instead in sys:sobjs directory.)

Huno or somebody else have to recompile the game to use libz.so.1.2.11.

(Edit)

Or even better. Create a sobjs dir into Smokin' Guns dir, copy the libz.so.1.2.3 into there and make all the links there. Keep the sys:sobjs intact. That way Smokin' Guns works and all the rest requiring the newer library version keeps working as well, and you don't have to mess with the links every time you want to play the game.

Edit: Further instructions in a later post on the next page.

Actually, from the content, it looks like Srtest was taking about SObjects. So in the OS4 case it needs rules to be followed for some shared objects to work which could be the issue here regarding previous post. In the end you could be right with this being restrictive since SO files aren't exactly a drop in place affair. I've even had to "hack" some into my system to get a program to work once since needed SO files weren't included nor a list where they could be found.
