Is not ready yet

However, because so many of you keep asking, here's what's happened so far

Three weeks ago I ordered the VIA Sereniti S2000 Case from ITX-Warehouse

Including P&P it cost me £42(ukp)

A week later the Micro A1 turned up courtesy of DaveP and sent from Sven Harvey and his company Stellar Dream. Excited like a kid on christmas morning I tore the box marked "Fragile" to find another box inside wrapped in heavy duty bubble wrap. Upon opening the second box I found a smaller box of After eight mints with a note saying "Sucker!"

Okay kidding, I opened the second box to find a beautiful tiny Micro A1 inside it along with an OS4 CD in a little cardboard wallet bearing the words Developer release. (Which made me laugh, because the only thing I am good for developing is colds!)

Now all that was outstanding was to get a hard drive and a CDRW or DVDRW drive.

Well, since finances are a bit short at the moment, fellow Amigaworld & ANT member Rudei offered me an old hard drive of his that he didn't need. This Monday evening gone (24th Jan 2005) I drove to Knebworth, because there was this awesome Concert taking place there.

Okay, no I am lying, that's where Rudei Lives, well if you have ever been to Knebworth, you'll know that there is no way out once you get in, let alone finding a blooming address!
After taking many a wrong turn I turned up at his house to collect the Hard Drive.

Poor old Rudei was in his dressing gown, with a stinker of a cold, which he apologised for, I said there is no need to apologise for the cold, but honestly pink dressing gown's are not really mucho!
(Kidding)

So if you are reading this Rudei, Get well soon!

Anyhow, he informed me that he kindly formatted and partitioned the drive for me with OS4 and also gave me a CD containing the updates as well. He's a nice man

Anyhow by now you are wondering when I am gonna put the whole thing together....

And the answer is...

I don't trust myself to put it together

So, here's an open invitation to you all, if you can make it. On Sunday February 13th I will be having my micro A1 assembled with the help of experts (such as Rigo - I hope, if he comes) and installed on the day.

If you want to see how it's all done and fired up. please turn up. Times are 1:00pm to 5:00pm but we will start the project at 1:30pm. All welcome. Admittance is free but, if you wish to make a small donation to club coffers, we would be much obliged

Full details on how to get there can be found on the Amiga North Thames website

@Mikey_C

Sounds promising - are you planning to do the review from the very starting point (i.e. as someone who's just bought the bits), including setting up the drive, installing everything, etc.

The only reason I ask is because you mention that the harddisk you've been given/lent is already set up...

Good luck with it, though!

I really like the invitation, but it's a bit of a flight + drive, so I'll politely decline. Any chance of a live stream tho?

@Mikey_C

I tell ya, you're within spitting distance of mcdonalds (and their wireless network) a dodgy van with a wireless booster and a connection to McD's would be all it took

A video of the event would be nice. "The day everything went up in smoke" seems like a nice title.

@AmigaOneProductions

A 'how-to' video would be really useful for future reference when more Micro A1 users come on board after the release of OS4.

Thanks in advance if you are able to do this!
