Your not alone! Exactly the same problem here. Just left with a grey Workbench headed screen? No mouse, no icons.
Only I don't have a voodoo to replace the radeon.
I made a back-up copy of my sys: directoty before installing and I have follwed the additional instructions in the Update installation to follow inthe event not booting after installation. Any ideas or suggestions anyone?

| @TrevorDick Yes, reinstall the orginal release from CD.
And then either stick second release back on it, and wait until they fix the 3rd release
-or-
reinsall the 3rd release, but do NOT change the startup-sequence or kicklayout.
if you do that it will go all wrong again, but at least you can change the settings to 256 colour desktop, and then get P96 working how it should.

AFAIK this is what happens if you didn't install the latest uboot firmware from March 5th.

NOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooo
No way mate, i'm here with the latest firmware 1.1.1 (5th March 2005) and have the exact same problem (Radeon 9800). After booting in i get some visible 5 cm from the top displayed along with a trashed mousepointer and nothing else, even trigering the Early-Startup crahses with a trashed mouse and a grey background
Thanks i'm not alone.
Any news on this from Hyperion already, a workaround?
Pretty please?

I would -strongly- suggest you refer to the firmware by date: October or March to avoid confusion.
I have been told that both contain a version # of 1.1.1. Maybe someone would be kind enough to confirm or correct me.
Best Wishes, #6

Ahh.. I bought my Miggy in may, so it's possible that I've got an old Firmware, which COULD explain why the install went pete Tong.
Bit daft giving different firmware updates the same code init?

Same here with my radeon 9200. Being one of those lazy people who doesn't make backups, I was stuffed. I have Voodoo 3 about 20 miles from here but decided to reisntall. Major pain in the a**e because i had rip apart the tower and plug the devices from the Sil back to the via.
Anyway I hope this gets sorted out soon.

U-Boot is a general purpose firmware. The current build the AmigaOne version is based upon is U-Boot version 1.1.1.
However, the internal code for the AmigaOne versions changed. To avoid confiusion with the U-BOOT version number, we didn't introduce a new version, but refer to U-Boot updates by date.
You will not see something like "You need U-Boot 1.1.1", but rather "You need the march version of U-Boot".Last edited by EntilZha on 14-Jun-2005 at 07:42 PM. Last edited by EntilZha on 14-Jun-2005 at 07:41 PM.

Will have to reinstall the update (Y'know, only Amiga here and only AOne can go Internet) |

Please make sure that your kicklayout lists "PCIGraphics.card", not "AmigaOne.card". This has been changed from previous versions since the same driver is used on classics for PCI graphics cards as well... The new driver needs PCIGraphics.card, it won't work anymore with AmigaOne.card.
Secondly, make sure that the dev:monitors directory doesn't contain an old monitor driver. If you renamed the original one, chances are that an old driver is still present.
I'll pass this on to the development and beta team, maybe somebody know another possible cause... Hang on...
Edit: One more thing: The new Radeon drivers use interrupts for synchronizing with the screen. Please check your interrupt routing in U-Boot (PCI/AGP setting): A good combination is 9, 10, 11, 7 for A, B, C, and D, respectively Last edited by EntilZha on 14-Jun-2005 at 07:41 PM.

OK dumb question. I just received my new MicroA1 with all software pre-installed within past 3 weeks and I and, perhaps foolishly, assumed it had all the current release of firmware. It certainly had release 2 installed and I did the exec.library check just to make sure.
Even dumber I backed up my sys: disk to a an amiga CDRW and it isn't recognised on a reboot of the system.
I can reboot from the original release one pre-release 1 installation CDrom. Thought I would try to copy old picaaso96settings filw which I had copied to a usb flash drive (just in case) before installing R3. Now flash dive not recognised dspite starting usb manually.
Questions:
How can I tell what version of firmware is installed? Is there an easy way back to my previous set-up without reinstalling release one then release 2, then my previous set-up from the CDRW?
Very frustrating!

Oopsie, my bad (as they say)
How do I know which firmware version update I've got?
I've downloaded the file, but I don;t really want to install it, well just in case, unless I really have too... _________________ Rage quited 29th May 2011 |

Thanks a lot Thomas
To get you some more details:
1. After installing (which went smooth and without problems) the system crashed. Dunno why, the installer window wasn't closed then!) Anyway, i couldn't delete "AmigaOne.card" out of Kickstart, so i knew i had to the next time.
2. After fiddling with the first and second OS4 CD's i was able to get into WB again, but ONLY if i start from the SECOND CD and ONLY with "AmigaOS4_Debug" mode
Huh???
After returning to the WB i deleted "AmigaOne.card" but still no go.
btw: I used the standard intall method, Overwriting Startup-Sequence and Kicklayout, that it |

Please retry after adding "INTERRUPT=NO" to the tooltypes in your Radeon monitor driver.
