I picked up a Terratec phase28 without realizing the audio outputs are indeed 6.5mm(1/4"). I'd figured I'd be able to piece something together, considering my roommate used to be a DJ..well, so much for that idea it turns out- everything he's got is mostly RCA jacks. Figured I'd throw an eq or mixer in between it and my 7.1 (low end right now) system, then swap out to a better setup (speakers) later..no joy.

As it is, the Terratec docs _suck_ to put it nicely. The best I can tell, is the 8 audio outputs are all mono and are supposed to be paired, yet I'm seeing no way to actually configure these outputs, if they are configurable. Looked through the Audio Evolution demo, mixer doesn't support it, AHI Prefs doesn't AFAIk, etc.....

I'm _guessing_ I'd need to get something like 4 of these Audio adapters- 2 'phone' plugs to stereo mini adapters , to grab both mono channels to feed a single stereo input on my Creative Inspire T7700 7.1 speakers ?

Or am I flat out SOL here? It's playing currently (24 hours, downloading ISOs, no more lockups), but it's impossible to get the Ys locally, so I've basically just got single channel output currently.

Suggestions welcome. If not, it's off to grab an an M Audio Revolution 7.1and make this a present for someone, or off to eBay we go with it.

Ok, so I made a rash decision buying it, shoot me

I had the same fun with an e-mu card, but
the local radioshack had all the cables and
end adaptors needed. Took me 10 dislexic
minutes to cover the possibilities, but it
worls! Sounds like a nice professional card.

@glokraw
Thanks for the response. I actually did try Radio Shack, and they had close to what I needed (plus an adapter), but turns out the output side (single connector part of the Y) isn't the normal 3.5mm; instead it's the 2.5mm. Too many connectors = bad for audio anyways.

Was hoping someone could chime in and verify the analog outputs of the TerraTec asnd take a look at the link I posted to the Y adapters.

Anyone?

...time to invest in magnifier, solder-gun,
razor knives and tape. Once addicted to them,
you won't ever break free!

The 8 outputs are all mono indeed. How would you like to configure the outputs then? It's pretty normal that they come paired. You would only require one adaptor for now.

Only one? Hmm- but I've got to drive 4 seperate speaker inputs, so I'd need the correct adapter x 4, to go from 4x pairs mono output to 4x stereo, no?

@wegster

That is correct, you will need 4 adaptors. The terratec outputs are also balanced, however you should still be able to plug in an unbalanced adapter like the one you have linked to.

It would have been easier if you had got the td7700 speakers and just used a single coax (RCA) cable utilising the spdif out of the terratec to the spdif in on the td7700.

BTW that review you linked to is awful. Quite a bit of incorrect information.

@bassdude
Thanks, will try that route first.

I'm not seeing spdif input on the T7700s, however, or I would have...?

@wegster

There is a t7700 and a td7700. I think spdif is only on the td7700.

@wegster

Well, I said "for now". There is nothing out there that uses more than stereo, well, ehm, except eXtream.

I've always wondered that, given the condition, why dyslexia is such a hard word to spell
