I'm trying to switch my soundcard from SBLive! to Terratec Aureon 5.1 PCI.
The card is firmly in place in the PCI-slot (confirmed in Linux), the problem now is to get any sound from it.
AHI-prefs does not list any soundcards.
AHI.device is 6.2c OS4, Audiomode/cmi8738 is dated 2004-01-19, cmi8738.audio is version 5.7 dated 2005-08-20.
Any hints about what can be missing

@tomazkid

Hi,

Did you set interrupt to "level" in Uboot menu as Dave suggested in the readme file?

Best Wishes,

@number6

The interrupts has been set to level since Uboot 0.1 or so, back in september 2003, so yes.

Result of pciscan:

The text on the soundchip is:
CMI8738/PCI-6ch-MX
HRTF 3D Audio
MKJW6.01-0515
UYD1DH

If this can give some more clues.
There is also labels on the card saying Aureon 5.1 Fun, though I bought it as Aureon 5.1 PCI

I suspekt I'm overlooking something very trivial atm.
But what

@tomazkid

The card works fine in my pc, sound is ok in my pc-speakers (base and 2 speakers), not as good as with SBAudigy2 that I normally use in my pc, but it will do.

@Curty

Thanks for the tip.
Currently the driver does not seem to be the problem, my A1 simply decided to not like the card, so got to try to sort that out first

If I remember correctly, pciscan uses the standard format PCI ID information file, so you can grab a new copy from the sourceforge PCI IDs site and it should be more up to date then the one incuded with pciscan. Several of those "Unknown"s should go away. Your soundcard should show as "0x13f6 0x0011 C-Media Electronics Inc CMI8738".

@tomazkid

Have you opened AHI Prefs and checked that it's on LINE OUT and not
DIGITAL OUT. Mine was when I upgraded the drivers and it was also
quiet.

@Samwel

I would love to, but haven't managed to get AHI to recognise the card yet, and currently my A1 dislikes the card, so it won't boot properly with the card attached.

@tomazkid

So which PCI slot are you putting the card in?
Have you tried it in a different one?

Ok, this has been reported with an Aureon Fun (the card I have) too. Also someone with a Radeon (7000) card. I use a Voodoo3. I'll try Saturday what the Radeon does in combination with the Aureon.

@DaveAE

I'm planning to try with a Voodoo 3 2000(PCI) instead of the Radeon (agp) tomorrow, if I get time for it.

I've now switched graphics-card from Radeon to a Voodoo3.
Here is the result of the pciscan, compare with the previous one.

@tomazkid

And does it work now? I'm using a Radeon 7500 now just fine.
Note that your first listing had 0x13F6 0x0011 instead of 0x0111 which is the correct ID.

@tomazkid

If this is solved, could you add [solved] or similar to the head or tail of
your thread title.
In this thread it appears solved, but in A1forum it is not so clear to me.

Thanks as always,

Although tomazkid has sorted his problem by installing a Voodoo gfx card in his A1, not all of us are going down that route at the moment, so some of us still have problems. It is interesting to be able to watch any developments that may be posted here by DaveAE etc.
