I have updated AISS (Amiga Image Storage System). It is an environment to use default images (like Toolbars) with Amiga OS.

The pictures are stored in two different drawers and then assigned under AISS: to builed a storage for all kind of eyecandy.

Please vote and add your thoughts!
What do you think?

Though, sounds like a nice idea and it should help keep a system tidy...

@Mason

I think the idea is good but this should then be something "official" in order to be supported. This way we then could imagine some sort of theme in the future, not only for intuition but also for applications...

@abalaban

I'm of the same opinion. Official or it will simply never get the real support it needs.

@abalaban

With one drawer for third parties, I should think the default drawer would be the offical one.

@Mason
I`m all in favour of it. Just with this section of a GUI here:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dave.nos/images.png

I`m using 10 custom images, some of which I`m using in other GUI`s. So it would save users having to store several copies of the same image.

@DaveN

Rather than a single "contribution" drawer I would prefer something like that :

AISS
|- default
|- abalabanTheme
|- DaveNTheme
|- etc...

I think this would save an unnecessary intermediate drawer. No ?

@DaveN

That's exactly how it works!

A stock of default toolbar images will be provided via the 'Default' drawer - if you need additional images just add them to the 'Contrib' area.

You don't need to host several copies of 'cut', 'copy' and 'paste' on your harddisk. One version under the AISS assign is enough

No! Because that would mean that you still have redundant images. It is more about sharing them with other apps...

@Mason

Ok, that wasn't evident for me, so default imagery is placed into 'default' (i.e. imagery provided by you and anyone can rely on) and additionnal imagery (immagery by third party) is placed into the 'contribution' drawer.

So if you want to theme applications (i.e. replace all the icons and images used) you should replace the whole AISS drawer, right ?

@Mason

what i miss here (or maybe don't understand) - how are different "themes" handled? like switching the workbench themes? i only see one drawer of pictures... i'd like to switch between different themes without needing to copy anything. ok - an assign switch would be possible i think.

byebye...

That's it! Now you got it

Yes and No... If you have a new theme then you just have to replace the default drawer (as it is the leading assing).
