Hi all,

I'm opening this thread because the subject was hidden in the Some things to get right for Amiga OS discussion and so some may have missed it.
In short: I have recently released a little software that helps integrating classic applications on AOS4. Lots of details can be found here - while this website is missing some important parts, the software is complete except for a minor feature that I hope to add tomorrow.

Enjoy,
saimo

@saimo

Looks good. I'm going to have to try this when I have time. Be sure to upload this to OS4depot sometime.

Wow, this a good step towards a fully integrated 'Classic' environment in a similar way to how Mac OS X ran it's Classic environment

@Hans

Actually, I think that glUAE should really be put on the OS4 CD and installed by default. It provides the final layer for compatibility with old hardware banging apps.

Works like a dream thanks for your efforts. Is there any chance of ADF support in the future.

I'm afraid that unfortunately it's a step along a path already at its end. I mean, UAE-based integration can't get much better than this because of intrinsic limitations of the isolated box model UAE is (rightfully) built on (BTW: the NOTES section of the site will be about these issues).

Agreed. But I guess there could be legal issues preventing this from happening. However, having it in a readily installable form as a contribution would already be great

Uh? What do you mean? ADFs are already supported, along with DMSes, IPFs and FDIs. What do you need, precisely?

Yes, sure.
I did not do it already because I want to implement the last feature in the TODO list first

@saimo

I was a bit tired last night and made a bit of mess trying to run packed ADF's. Because you only mentioned DMS I made an assumption. I've got it working ok now though.

@saimo

Hi, I got a bit of trouble with your software/skripts.

I created a projecticon as mentioned on your website. Selected the LA
skript to lunch WormsDC (adf_files). I created .rc an .uaerc exists too.
the kickrom is present but it always complains that it can´t find kick.rom.
The path is okay.

Ouch, you are right! While reworking the pages of the site, recently I have removed the list of supported images . I'll fix it ASAP. Thank you!

Let's see... I think it's just a matter of configuring UAE. Check "kickstart_rom_file" and "kickstart_ext_rom_file" in your .uaerc and .rc files and make sure they point to correct locations (keep in mind that UAE is executed from its own drawer).

I just wanted to inform you that the website is finally complete and that now there is a much-improved version available for download.

Cheers,

I did not try it yet but thanks for the effort.

Any chance to get similar application/tool/script for dosbox ? I know rundos exists but I could not configured it to launch a pc game together with dosbox.

Not from me - not in the near future, at least.
