Maybe someone "luckier" than me can find out how much money Amigainc got from Prokom.

There is a company called "Kouri Capital" in Warsaw Poland.
The company is owner of a cable TV station in Poland.
Is this related to Pentti Kouri, the chairman of Amiga Inc?

Apparently Prokom software SA (Poland) had something to do with ITEC LLC.
ITEC buy AmigaOS from the old Amiga Inc, and sell it to KMOS.
KMOS was renamed as the new Amiga Inc.

If someone started hostile takeover of Prokom Software, will they get the whole Amiga Inc?

Can someone translate this statement in Polish:

"W lutym 2006 roku Prokom Software S.A. nabył od z ITEC LLC z siedzibą w Nowym Jorku
800.000 udziałów w Amiga, Inc („Amiga”), spółce prawa stanu Delaware za cenę 2,5 USD za
1 udział. Nabyte udziały stanowią około 2,3% wszystkich udziałów w Amiga wyemitowanych
na dzień zawarcia umowy. Amiga stworzyła m.in. uniwersalną platformę systemu
operacyjnego umo liwiającą funkcjonowanie oprogramowania i aplikacji IT na wszelkich
urządzeniach mobilnych bez względu na rodzaj i producenta sprzętu. Prokom Software S.A.
zamierza współpracować z Amigą m.in. w zakresie rozpowszechniania"

@Darth_X

Although this seems to be quite old (from the headline I thought it was recent news), it's always interesting to know more about the owner structure behind Amiga Inc.

@JurassicC
That's an aweful machine-translation (about usual then!), but sounds like they were interested in AmigaDE.

@asian:

Human translation:

"In february 2006 Prokom Software SA buyed 800 000 shares in Amiga, Inc from ITEC LLC, a Delware state law company located in New York, for 2.5 USD for 1 share. Obtained shares make for 2.3% of all Amiga shares issued at the day of agreement. Amiga among other things created a universal OS platform allowing software and IT applications to function on all mobile devices regardless of type and manufacturer. Prokom Software SA plans (among other things) to cooporate with Amiga in distribution of Amiga's products on Polish market."

The numbers indicate, that Amiga had about 35 000 000 shares issued at that day (800 000 / 0.023). If one share costed 2.5 USD, that makes almost 90 million bucks. Quite a lot I would say. No wonder DiscreetFX hasn't buyed them out yet.

Edit:
Calculations corrected. Thanks hatschi.
Translation corrected. Thanks mailman.

Not THEIR products but ITS. THEIR could indicate that we are talking about PROKOM's or PROKOM's + Amiga. In the report it is strictly said about Amiga's products. Check my translation in other thread. It was linked here by thomazkid.

Make that "almost 90 million bucks".

Tell me no one is 'that' stupid.

$1 would be fair considering the vast investment required to take the Amiga forward.

@Darth_X

Incidentally Amiga Inc were working with Prokom Software Group back in 2005...

This gives the correct translation:
http://www.rns-pdf.londonstockexchange.com/rns/6826j_3-2006-9-29.pdf

In February 2006 Prokom Software SA signed with ITEC LLC (seated in New York) a purchase agreement for
800,000 shares in Amiga, Inc (“Amiga”), for the price of USD 2.5 each. The purchased shares constitute 2.3% of
all issued shares in Amiga. Amiga, among other products, developed a versatile platform for an operational system
that enables use of any software or IT applications on all types of mobile devices . Prokom Software SA will work
with Amiga on marketing and distribution of this product among Polish software and mobile devices vendors.

I was led to believe Amiga Inc was a private company ?

More twists & turns ?

Should rename The Black Bean Highway to AmigaInc Highway.

From Commodore to Escom (from Wikipedia):

"Escom paid US$14 million for Commodore International, primarily for the Commodore brand name."

From Escom to Gateway: (from Business Week):

"For Gateway, which paid some $13 million for the rights to Amiga patents in 1997, the shift emboldens its strategy to diversify beyond low-margin PCs and derive 30% of its revenue,"

From Gateway to Amino (old Amiga Inc): (from Amigahistory.co.uk):

" It is suspected that this choice was influenced partly by the loan of the necessary $5 million needed by Amino to purchase Amiga."

How come the same company/IP worth US$ 90 million today?

Is there any mistranslation/typo that the real percentage is 67% (2/3) or two thirds?

Plus IIRC Amiga Inc dont own the patents - merely a licence... (So anyone ripping them off further down the line will probably get Gateway lawyers after them too...)

As said in the other thread, they bought 800 000 shares, 2,5USD per share, that being the 2,3% of Amiga Inc.

That is two million dollars, and if that is 2,3% of Amiga Inc. , so Amiga Inc. shares total value is aprox. 87 million dollars (!!)

It is. There is nothing stopping you selling shares in your own company to other people/businesses if you mutually agree. I think they are called class B shares.

You don't have to be public to do that. Public shares open things up to everyone however. I think this is known as class A shares.

(This is from a UK perspective of course).

I am sure there is someone that knows more than I do on the topic but just because you are a private company does not mean you cannot sell shares in your business.
