ANAIIS, acronym for Another Native Amiga IO Interface Stack, is a quick
and dirty software solution that brings the possibilities of the Universal
Serial Bus (USB) to the basic Amiga 2000, with 68000 at 7.14Mhz, and the
ZorroII card Highway from E3B.
Yes you have read it: 68000, not 68020 or higher, with at minimum Kickstart 1.3
or higher.
On better configuration, it may works, but you should prefer Poseidon.
In this case you must shut down Poseidon and try ANAIIS at you own risk.

ANAIIS, Another acronym with hidden parts:
Native because it was all written in C.
Amiga because this computer worth this kind of program.
Input because it works for mice and keyboards.
Interface because Intuition.
Stack because this kind of program is called like that.

ANAIIS controls:
- hub (not all hubs)
- mice
- keyboard
- printer

A little interface is given to control the stack. You can also control it
via CLI commands:
usbstart, usbreset, usbstop.

You can send files to printer with usbprint command.

You must keep original mice and keyboard, ANAIIS is not yet resident and
doesn't survive at boot time.
A lot of games will certainly not work.

Tested with success with Brilliance and, Deluxe Paint, Ced, and perhaps all applications under Intuition.

anaiis.lha (AmigaOS 1.3 and higher) [86 ko]

Enjoy USB on old classic Amiga.
Only Amiga makes it possible!

@Gilloo

Sounds good, does it support plug in's/drivers to add things like mass storage etc?
Nice to see, keep up the good work!

@all
Thanks a lot for your comments.
V0.9 was lamentably bugged and has been replaced on aminet with V0.91
(suppress of ugly console window, reduce executable size, suppress of trace,
dev routine in fact )

@Oli_hd
No plug ins for the moment. All must be in one task to keep an accurate bandwidth control.
Keep in mind that this program is made for 68000 @ 7.14Mhz, so old vintage design rules.

@Jupp3 massstorage ?
Perhaps in V2.00
In fact I haven't got any documentation or concrete code to manage 8.6.1 (usb massstorage via scsi commands)

The next step will:
- correct multiselection (Workbench)
- support mousewheel, button inversion for left people, reboot.
- patch the parallel.device to print directly trough usb stack.
a lot of work!

@Gilloo

I am not sure that I understand this correctly.

Is this new Software for currently existing USB hardware for Amiga?

Does it work on the Subway USB for the A600 and A1200 clockports?
I have a clockport adaptor in my A600 and want to add USB...............I was told the A600 needed at least a 68030....and your saying that this will work on a plain 68000 Amiga @ 7.14mhz?

@scala47

AFAIK it supports currently Highway ZorroII -card, not Subway.

Same player shoot again...

ANAIIS version 0.92
http://aminet.net/package/driver/other/anaiis

Corrections concerning:
- hubs (now most hubs will work)
- mouse wheel.
- qualifiers on repeating key, pointer moves with keyboard, reset.
- direct printing using fake parallel printer.

The subway version is in the starting blocks...

http://aminet.net/package/driver/other/anaiis

Correction concerning:
- Subway
- Printing on 711 (but won't work on HPPSC :( don't know why)

Warning: this version may be unstable, but I used it all yesterday

Merry Christmas!

Sorry but, did Poseidon author provide source code?
No.

Executable only.
The source code cannot be diffused because there are copyrights upon the uhc124 die.

Your Amiga specs look similar to mine and I am planning on giving Anaiis a go as well even though my A1200 is a little over the recommended spec Just as soon as my subway USB interface arrives.

I wonder if it would work under OS4 as I have ordered that to but I am going to keep that back for some think to do on Christmas day (other than over eating), more out of curiosity than anything else.

@Gilloo
Thanks for all your hard work as I love adding modern features such as USB to low spec old Amigas as it makes for a fun indoor hobby in the winter.

If you add USB disk support in the future I would be very interested in using Anaiis with and a subway USB + clock port adapter + USB key with a boot disk instead of a harddisk with one of my 2 A500. If I added a MP3@64 to the second clock port or a
MAS Player I could even use my A500 as an mp3 player

@Gilloo
It would be interesting if used with a next revision of Minimig which used USB. What am I saying!?!? It might as well be the very own reason for it going USB.

@pixie
I'm not expert in hardware design, but if Minimig would use a A1200 standard clockport and better power (At least 2A under 5V), ANAIIS should work with Minimig and Subway!
I have to see why Subway is slower than Highway...

@Kicko
OS4 arf!

The main idea of ANAIIS is to fill gaps lost by modern design programs (MUI + OS3.1 + 68030 + whatever) and old vintage Amigas (Exec + Intuition).
ANAIIS, female firstname that fit fine with our favorite computer (means "The grace" in hebrew), needs only a plain 68000@7.14Mhz and 1Mo of RAM (works also with 512Ko, but no application will run) with the following system version:
OS3.9 (with stronger 680x0)
OS3.5 (with stronger 680x0)
OS3.1(tested!)
OS2.1
OS2.04(tested!)
KS1.4
KS1.3(tested!)
KS1.2
and perhaps KS1.1 but the GUI seems to be very tricky and unstable...

It doesn't yet and I very much doubt it will in the future, what it could have was usb already integrated on the motherboard, eventually using the core from subway. BTW how much cpu stress does it causes to 68k, in % that is...
