Is paged memory planned for MorphOS?

Co-operative swapping was supported in old times (MorphOS 0.x) but support has been discontinued.
(Co-operative swapping: only MEMF_SWAP memory is swapped, access not safe in Forbid() state.)

But 2 GB of RAM (or MorphOS supports more?) arenn´t enough.

1.4.x supported only max 1.5GB due to some Quark quirk, I dont remember was this fixed in MorphOS 2.0 (should support up to theoretical max 4GB).

PowerPC can address 4 PB of virtual memory...

Good luck with that...

What am I missing here? There are millions of Mac G4,G4,and G5 computers out there ,most with Apple standardized video, etc Why would MorphOS work only on the Mac Mini?

Because of drivers ? :)
You can exclude Nvidia-based Macs for example.
I also heard G5 was a problem as well (should work in 32bit mode though).Last edited by Leo on 10-Oct-2008 at 08:39 AM.

SnoopDOS was released OS4-native back in 2004: http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=utility/misc/snoopdos.lha
@all
Why not stop all these silly compatiblity claims, it's perfectly clear that neither side has an idea of what works or doesn't on the other system. A lot of effort went into keeping compatibility in both systems, and I think both OS'es have done a good job. At some point OS4 even got emulation for native (planar) screens, so that applications which rely on such screens and access the Planes of the BitMap directly, can also work. This allowed programs like DPaint IV to work as well as Lightwave's rendering preview. There's also other things available for running classic programs that rely on classic hardware resources (such as CIAgent, NallePuh, ...) Last edited by COBRA on 10-Oct-2008 at 09:28 AM.

I have been told that all patches are not working and packet monitoring is completely broken.
Not that it matters anymore. Snoopium (MorphOS) and Snoopy (OS4) are much better alternatives.

I think the problem with SnoopDOS was that when you patch functions in the old (68k) way (e.g. via SetFunction), that will patch the 68k vector table, which is only accessed when a 68k application calls a library function. Because under OS4 PPC software using PPC-native libraries call the functions directly from a PPC function vector table (which is the most efficient way to make library function calls on PPC), in such case the 68k jumptable is not used/needed. For patching PPC functions there is a new function defined. So if you started the original 68k SnoopDOS on OS4, it would catch and display only the function calls which 68k software make, so all you'd have to do for an OS4-native version is to replace the calls to SetFunction with calls to the new patch function, and then it will work for both PPC and 68k software, as 68k software accessing the 68k jumptable will end up executing the PPC functions listed in the PPC vector table. I do remember using a native SnoopDOS without problems on OS4 a while back, but it's possible that there were some issues with it, I have not come across any though... |

| @All.
What is the current AROS status? Any news, any browser?
Seems like it's a little quiet since AOS4.1 SAM440 combination appeared?
