Jens showed me the proto at Breakpoint party, this year. I was totally amazed by the product concept, specs, and the ideas included in this gadget. Really excellent news that it indeed goes production, and will be available!

@amigakit

I'd buy a couple if it worked in the A4000(T). I do not own any A1200's...only A4000's.

@amigakit

Wait! Wouldn't this cause games to look pixalated because of the sharpness of the monitors and the way it displays things? That is why TVs are great for games, isn't it? BEcause of the fuziness.

@HammerD @amigakit

I would too like to find an external scandoubler/flicker fixer for my A4000 (My Microvitec died, and I'm now sharing a 31Khz monitor with a KVM switcher).

I remember there was a News posted end 2007 about a scandoubler being worked on (Thread: New Scan Doubler tests look good!).
Last time I asked Roy, he told me he will send me a mail when he has a device ready (that was around January 2008). No news since then.

@Foody

You'll still be able to hook up a TV in the normal manner if you want, and having a 1024*768 flicker free Workbench will be a real boon for when you aren't playing games.

@Foody

Retro-feeling can be brought back by switching on the scanline emulation and switching to VSync mode, which is a lower vertical frequency than Async scan mode.

I'm sure that has gone up 14 quid since I looked earlier. I knew inflation was high but...

Requires: OS3.x, AGA(ECS)-ChipSet, MultiSyncMonitor
Architecture: m68k-amigaos
Kurz: 1024x768 Screenmode für AGA/ECS

---=== HighGFX V40.4 ===---
---=== Welcome to a new world of Amiga Graphics! ===---
---=== 39 NEW screenmodes up to 1024x768 ===---
---=== 52 Hz / 21,06 kHz ===---

---=== English/German Release ===---
=======================

HighGFX-Package -Part1-
=======================

HighGFX is a new monitordriver for the AGA(ECS)-Chipset.
It enables screenresolutions up to 1024x768 to the Amiga
in a systemfriendly way.
(This is NOT a hack for a present monitordriver ... It´s new !)

This new screenmodes are very usefull, if you want to display
highresolution pictures or PC-SVGA screens in PC-Task.

It is even very usefull for MAC or QDOS-emulations, where you can use
the new 512x384 screenmode.

The workbench is very cool in 1024x384 resolution, too.

For installation use the HighGFX.Guide !

I think, there is nothing more to say about a monitordriver.
Now the screenmodes and features.

Supported modes (from workbench):

512 x 192
512 x 384
512 x 768 interlaced
1024 x 192
1024 x 384
1024 x 768 interlaced

Supported features:

- absolute systemfriendly
- own ModeID ($5xxxx)
- colors 2-256
- EHB, HAM or HAM8
- darggable screens
- overscan (up to 1032x768)

- theoretical up to 16777216 colors (HAM8)
(better than most graphiccards on Amiga)

- works with all monitors, that can display
frequencys like 52Hz 21,06kHz
M1438,1738 / NEC3D / Idek 5017,5021 / Acer .....

- works with the AGA-Flickerfixer from CompServ
(tested with a 1024x768 workbench running MWB in 16 colors)

Highgfx is a screenmode package published on Aminet. It either works with very tolerant multiscan-monitors, or flickerfixers that can handle completely weird horizontal and vertical frequencies. With Indivision AGA, you can have a 1024 x 768 screen with lots of colours and a fairly high update rate - the only possibility to increase the number of lines is Highgfx.

You might as well try Super-High Res interlaced, which gives you a good visible 1400 pixels on the X-axis, but not such a large amount of lines. In any case, the screenmode is flicker-free and can be displayed on pretty much any VGA monitor or flatscreen.

News item just published, there's a lot to read.

You can always go the low-tech way and just squint at the screen...

When we are on the subject of weird frequencies, any chance for a C64/C128 device with support for the C128 RGBI output or non-standard VIC-II vertical frequencies and colors? (Have a look at the Risen from Oblivion and VIC-II interlace demos.)

The C128 is almost impossible to handle timing-wise, as it's floating all over the place. It has ground noise of up to 0,7V, which totally messes up any try to sample the pixels at 16MHz (that's the VDC pixel rate).

I have something for the C64 in the works, but it requires a real C64. The C128 is NOT compatible. You could think of optical de-coupling of signals... or just save up that precious RGBI monitor. I do like "Risen from the Oblivion" - it's an impressive piece of VDC coding!

You're from Sweden. Come to Back in time live on september 13th, I'm planning to demonstrate something there.
