Unless OS4.1+SAM has the blessing of Amiga Inc I cant see this getting beyond being just an announcement.

why do you even bother dooing this? , do you even think that it will do one of them or are you just trying to stirr everyone up?

I think (personally and as an long time Amiga Only user) that it will not be able to do either of the above (both are wrong).

That is, atleast for the forseable future anyway, if it can sell 9999 units then i am sure Hyperion will be happy for now and even that is a high number for now although things might pick up if the lawsuit is cleared out of it all and ofcourse if we see more software.


PS: do you think they would have released 4.1 for A1 if they thought they would be in deep doodoo?..or for that matter..go as far as dooing it for the Classic (4.0) or even SAM with 4.1 ?.. seriously, this is not only an announcement.

Some possibilities:

1 - A Inc and Hyperion have come to a mutual agreement that sales may take place at least until the mediation in November, where full terms will be thrashed out.

2 - Amiga Inc are about to file for bankruptcy. Hyperion have got wind of this and have decided to get OS 4.1 out for SAM as they will face no legal challenge.

3 - Hyperion have run out of capital and have had to resort to selling this in spite of legal disputes, simply to keep afloat.

I'm sure the next few days will be very interesting, anyhow!

funny thing is, if what youre saying then they will have to stop the sales of the A1/UA1c's aswell as they never got the blessing either....according to the AmigaInc side of the lawsuit.

Wonder how they will pull that one off.

I also hope it's #2 and that Hyperion and AI have reached an agreement. If not, then there's number 3.....

I started the thread to prompt some theories into what is really going on - those three are actually the conclusions I came to - the first being positive and resulting in sales making AI and Hyperion happy, the third being the path to another lawsuit. Two would also be an interesting possibility...

Though you would think if it was good news (ie agreement!) then everyone would be announcing it one way or another...

I dont have £600 to spend on such a limited machine.

My needs are for machines that can record/stream TV/play media, another as a server/HD video editor and also a laptop/netbook. Until there is an Amiga that can replace one of those three I cant justify spending...
