From Amiga Inc's web site in 2006:
"Envizions Computer Entertainment Corporation today announced that Amiga multimedia applications will be available with the upcoming release of EVO, Envizions’ next generation multi-media entertainment system."

Well, looks like Envision may actually be releasing the Evo...
http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS4852301494.html?kc=rss

Supposedly you'll be able to download "AmigaAnywhere" games for the machine.

To quote the article, " It will offer "cloud" based computing applications, Amiga-based games..." ....GAG!!!

Specifications listed for the EVO Smart Console include:

* Processor -- AMD Athlon 64x2 5600 clocked at 2.9GHz
* Graphics processor -- ATI HD 3200
* Memory -- 2GB DDR2
* Display -- supports 1080i and 1080p/HDCP resolution; ATI HD 3200 Chipset
* Video codecs -- H.564 VC1; MPEG2
* Video output -- DVI; HDMI
* Storage -- 120GB or 250GB hard drive, plus online cloud storage (10GB free)
* Peripherals -- CD/DVD ROM; biometric scanner
* Networking -- 2 x 10/100 Ethernet
* USB -- 2 x USB 2.0
* Dimensions -- 11.8 x 2.6 x 10,7 inches (300 x 65 x 273mm)
* Operating system -- Fedora 8 with option to convert to Linux-based Mirrors Evolution distro; virtualized Windows install optional

When asked what Amiga Inc. plans to do with the their profits from the EVO Bill McEwen said, "Well, we hope to earn around $1 Billion dollars and build a REALLY REALLY medium sized minor league hockey stadium in the middle of nowhere! I know, I know it sounds strange but we're sitting on some really great technology based on AmigaAnywhere and an Automated Zamboni machine that I've just been dying to test out for a few years now!"

You mean, "Amiga Anywhere™ Now Available For Use with All U3 Powered USB Smart Drives"??

Well at least that one wasn't a complete hoax though. I believe you can actually buy U3 AmigaAnywhere games, but I think this EVO thing is just a SCAM!

In any case, it's dated 2005.

There is no mention there about OS4, why should it be disturbing for OS4 fans?

Laugh then cry, then laugh some more

I really dont see what they hope to accomplish with a bog standard pc no one in their right mind would buy at that price

http://www.midlandsit.com/68000l.html even that is better and cheaper
http://store.globuscomputer.com/xpoweramd3000a.html and lookie here
and here

Even with todays high prices,(currency) i was able to pt the thing together in norway for 322 usd

Prices in Norwegian kroners
cpu : 519
mainb : 625
ram 209
chass 861
Hard drive 331 250 gb

2,545.00 NOK

=

373.067 USD

And thats with 25% electronics tax in norway

as a company is exempt from this tax thats
1,908.75 NOK

=

280.209 USD

I feel more "shrug indifferently and go about my business" about this. Who among us cares? If Amiga Inc. wasn't actively preventing us from getting what we actually want, they'd be completely irrelevant to us.

@billt

Very true, vaporware + company with no new product almost decade / broken promises = why should we care?

Even if it the EVO ends up being sold it is still a system with off the shelf hardware that anyone with any computer building skill and knowledge of Linux installation can create on their own. And because of that is no further work needed on scalability for AmigaAnywhere, which means anyone with the SDK can port it. So I don't see what the big fuss is about.

Just go about your business and post about Hyperion, OS4, MOS2, AROS, Natami, Minimig, Commodore Amiga; or anything else AmigaOS related since ignoring these shmucks is the biggest disservice you can do for them right now.

What's interesting but not disturbing is the fine print:

AMIGA - EVO???

EVO GAMES - Amiga Anywhere??????????

from the article it sounds like they want it to be a linux gaming box...I just dont see much of a connection between this and crappy amiga games...
either those games are ancient or they suck dead dingo's dongers.
saying I can download these games is supposed to tickle my pants?
laugh, cry, then cross your fingers and pray for an Ainc bankruptcy.

vote FICUS for presidency of amiga inc.

@AmigaHeretic

In all honesty, I think it looks pretty damn cool actually, as unfashionable it is to praise anything Amiga Inc does these days!

U3? Isn't that the annoying software that ships on SanDisk Cruzer memory sticks which I immediately remove?

@Darrin

U3 is an ok cludge for a stupid problem. To boot a CD you put an emulated floppy on it. To run software from USB you put an emulated CD on it. To access your extra harddrive you make it emulate a USB stick. Are we going full circle here?
