First BETA now available

FROM: AW News Post

E-UAE on AmigaOS4.1 (and MorphOS) supports only interpretive emulation and is quite slow compared to f.ex. WinUAE.
What's needed is JIT 68K code emulation to speed things up.
Especially AmigaOS4.1 users with slower machines will gain a lot from a JIT version of E-UAE.

Read more...

As the JIT will automatically become open source, other PPC platforms will also be able to benefit from it.

As a minimum the project should be able to.
- Bring JIT 68k code emulation to the OS4 version of E-UAE.
- Work with a number of specified games and applications that runs
(slow) under the OS4 version of E-UAE.

Yes, someone needs to pay attention
Sputnik bounty money was either returned or forwarded to OWB and NetSurf developers (50/50 split). Amigabounty.net does not have any money related to the Sputnik bounty. This was announced around 27.12.2008 on all major Amiga sites (http://amigabounty.net/index.php?function=viewcomments¬eid=19&full=true).

Regarding the JIT bounty we need many more donations, it's not an easy task. There must be more SAM and A1 owners who wants to be able to play classic games and watch demo's at full speed?

@Troels

Thanks Troels for that answer.

I am currently busy overseas but now I remember that people's money for the Sputnick Browser was according to all the announcements on Amiga forums, returned to owners seeking a refund or spent on other projects.

AmigaBounty has also got the FlashPlayer for Amiga OS bounty going, progressing in the background.

@ALL

One of the major initial "GET IT STARTED" requirements would be a JOB SPEC.
A position description outlining the skills and levels of experiance, also details on prefered
knoweledge or experiance.

We would also take recommendations / referals from people, if they happend to know such a desired candidate / person.

@ALL

OK, more people have an AmigaOS4.1xx update / quick fix now...

So please Amiga Community - Start putting some effort into this thread and bounty effort.

I want this capability to tie the knot on the loose ends of full backwards compatibility on
NON API complaint software.

@All
If you have the correct email address for Bernd Meyer? Please send me a PM.

@Developers
Any interested AmigaOS4 or Morphos developers should send me an email.

@Users
Put your money where you... Well just consider supporting this bounty so we can have full speed classic amiga emulation on even the low specification OS4/MOS hardware.

I dont normaly agree with bountys - but this is a Very worthey project and I hope more people get involved. If someone intends to use OS4/Morph for there main OS there must be a alternative to WinUae as a lot of Amiga users probably use both.

Just Uae/Jit for PPC is very important, a lot of consoles are PPC based and would benefit from faster Uae.

I'd consider donating some money if it also included a good GUI. I know there is a GUI available for the current UAE on OS4, but it's not very user friendly (it's still better than editing the .rc file though!).

@Troels

Sorry if I didn't get back yo you before. Damn days of 24 hours

Some people suggested that lack of JIT was not the only problem of speed in E-UAE. Emulating the chipset is an area that needs more work.

So maybe the bounty should be changed to "make it faster", but how to put words on this?

It's been atleast a decade since I had a JITed UAE running anywhere, but AFAIR JIT and old floppy games are generally a nogo (the timing between chipset and CPU is never right).

@elwood

I don't have access to a SAM board (and my A1 is dead atm.) but it would be interesting to hear what is too slow to be run properly on the SAM.

@elwood

---PPC users can benefit---
If the programmer/s can make the JIT and even optimize the other CHIPSET emulator component/s object/s then great the entire community of PPC users can benefit from that.

--Trickle onto x86 platform---
Perhaps even those enhancements could trickle onto x86 platform. Who knows!

Donors - be a little more generous and plan on contributing from your next pay packet please!

The OS4.x Quick Fix was good for me, no major problems, but still not fast enough for E-UAE usage.

I don't want broke the fun, but if be honest, the one of the think (important one), for which i want to spend money, and which bounty 100% will be interestin to users , it's bounty for making 68k which banging hardware runs fine on os4.

I mean not run uae, or tons of scripts , or kind to make just a game/demo work. But some kind of resident programm, which will catch access to old hardware (like CIaAgent trying to do), but the same for audio, cia, aga/esc, and then redirect it to ahi / intuition/ cgx/rtg/p96.

That one really intersting. Becouse for me, jit already fast enough. Only what i miss, it's just download, unpack and running many aga/paula demos/games.

Becouse as i know, only uae which are usable 100%, it's WinUae. uae on aros (for example janus one), at moment buggy like hell. I just can't run any old aga demo on it. Some time it show only first screen, sometime it's works (almost) but stop on some moment. It's mean that uae itself are raw. But maybe it's only for aros ? Never tried uae on os4.

Anyway, bounty which i really miss (and in which will spend some money), it's just make (never mind how), working this kind of steps: download from amine old AGA demo, unpack, run exe - works. Let's it be uae ,and some kind of resident programm which catch the banging, and then running uae itself with this EXE. Or somethink like that. Without boring the user about deeper details.

There is some way to run WHDLoad installed games on OS4:
