@kas1e

I notice the RageMem tests all show L3 Cache: None. Doesn't the X5000 have an L3 cache?

@kas1e

for quake1 test simply download the quake1 from here:

http://os4depot.net/share/game/fps/quake.lha

unpack and after launched in quake "shell" (the window opened with "\" key), timpe:

timedemo demo1
timedemo demo2
timedemo demo3

And write back the results...
With that versionI get about 24 fps in 1024x768 i all demos

Simple and straight cpu horse power test...

PS remember to close the window after alunching the test pressing again "\" and at end reopen to see the result.

EIDT: on 640x480 I got 51
on 1680x1050 I got 14

PPS For ffmpeg test to compare results we need the linked video without it have to redo the test...kets wait few days I'll try to look for something more easy to get...and retest again wuith latest ffmpeg...

@fishy_fis

Amithlon box by speed looks the same as x5k, while almost 4ghz cpu , strange..

As for AROS , darkplaced probably 3d accelerated ? we test quake1 which is sotware rendered,.

@kas1e

Ah, yep, Dark Places is hardware accelerated. I'll try a software rendered version and update my figures.
As for the Amithlon results, given that its about 2x the clock rate, plus has a higher IPC, along with an optimized quake port that contains asm and large caches (Intel shared cache architecture means that the single core in use inherits entire processor caches) its not too surprising the results aren't too different to those of an x5000.

@kas1e

It is running an emulated CPU and 68k binaries, nothing native :)
Running native is a lot faster in terms of CPU performance, but I think I'm gfx card bound as well. Its a 20 year old gfx card on a 33mhz pci bus after all. :)

@all

Trying that:

http://os4depot.net/share/game/fps/glquake.lha

with:

glquake_aos4 -width 640 -height 480 I get 111.5 fps
glquake_aos4 -width 1024 -height 768 I get 65.9 fps
glquake_aos4 -windowmode -width 640 -height 480 I get 90.9 fps
glquake_aos4 -windowmode -width 1024 -height 768 I get 41,7 fps

@Tuxedo

Tried glquake:

Created ID1 directory and put those 2 .pak files, but it crahes on running all the time for me. Sometime i can run it, but then it crashes and crashes again :) Ignore DSI help a bit, but again everything crashes after. I tried it without args , from shell, from icon - crashes. Adding more stack didn't help. Tried with options like you show - same result:
keep crashing.

It's an old thread in amiga-news.de, about benchmarks and tools/files to use:

http://www.amiga-news.de/de/news/AN-2012-02-00011-DE.html

Maybe you can make'em on your X5000 and post results to see diffs.

TIA

quakegl crash on x5000 probbly because build with some cpu optimization.

@kas1e

if you have time you can try to build it on x5000 glquake of os4depot have sources in the lha

On quad g5 same linux version radeon r5 230 2gb 307 fps
on osx leopard on quad g5 nvidia 7800gtx (2005 gpu) 680 fps

mesa are not optimized on linux ppc

@tlosm

To be honest I have absolutely zero interest in Linux or osx. If I did I'd have posted results for them too.
Its an Amiga based site. OSX benchmarks on Mac hardware is as irrelevant as Windows results (which is over 2x those I get on AROS).

probably you dont understand the point on osx i have the double of performances of linux on the same machine. on linux i have better percrormances compared amiga os...

Fishiy mean that we not in interest in linux benchmarks at all :) Not for acatemic interest, not because of any other , we there in interest in amiga kind oses :) You still put everywhere those linux benchmarks, but we all just skip them all the time, as they have no interest for all of us :) At least for most of us.

As for GlQuake, yep, will try.

@Javier
Yeah, will try those tests as well.

@kas1e

i understand, but my point was cant compare different hardware architecture with different os because the result will differ for missing of optimization.
exampe Mesa on Aros have asm optimizations inside for x86.

about my tests i just made a true test with same architecture PPC64 and same Linux PPC version Fedora 25 Sarver and see the x5000 goes little down compared the quad in darkplace or quakespasm. but with osx comparisons my point was how much the linux ppc mesa driver was not optimized ... it mean we dont know the real power of x5000.

For sure my prefer os is os4 but on os4 have one core only running dont make understand the true machine power same is on linux but less than os4
