And probably no one care about potencial of machine, if that potencial didn't utilizied by os in which we in interst :) We all know that linux have more devs, and can utilize all the crap, but we talk about amiga like oses, and what they utilize, not what they can (when, soon, 2 more weeks). That why all linux tests is out of interest. We interst in machine only because it run amiga like os, what can or can't do linux and how good can it be , also out of interest there (for most of us, of course).

probably you dont understand the point on osx i have the double of performances of linux on the same machine

That's funny, I don't.
And OSX is a lot easier for me to use, I rarely have anyone throw tar compressed packages at me that I need to compile for myself.

The performance advantages of Linux are fairly minimal, and until Vulkan is more common, Windows and DirectX is SO much better than OpenGL on other platforms.

@iggy

the point is linux have less then the half of performances on a newer gpu compared an old gpu of 2005. this because on osx the drivers was mede by nvidia and amd on linux ppc are the openources and much slower. on x86 there is not this difference because the linux drivers are made by house mothers. in any way on x5000 and 6570 on linux only now i can play without issue 1080p mkv because vdpau are enabled. i m able to play 4k 360vr too because last vdapu update... drivers make a really big difference. same is for uboot on os4 side. better is uboot better will be os4 performances too.

What ? 1 seconds to load os4 completely ? Lie. It is not. It take 40-45 seconds from power on till usable workbench, or 8-10 seconds for soft-reboot. It is only loading of kickstart modules probably take 1-2 seconds, but its just a piece in the whole boot process, which is not 1 seconds at all.

Yep, hyperion only works on that amigaboot.sd or how it name was, which is called when user type "boota" in uboot

Yes, Nvidia and AMD should be ashamed of how poorly they support the Linux community.
This insistence of proprietary drivers if thoroughly f'd up.

If they'd just give us decent documentation for the gpus, we'd have a much easier time writing display drivers.

The Mesa Gallium driver for AMD's GPU's has been making leaps and bounds recently, with AMD contributing as well. It's not perfect, but miles ahead of the Nouveau driver for NVIDIA.

@WolfpackN64

That's cool.
I have a personal preference for ATI/AMD anyway.

Is that driver available for PPC Linux distros?
I need something to occupy my time until I can get some hardware to play with OS/2.

I think Mesa is architecture independent, the newer the Linux kernel version, the newer the Mesa version.

The Mesa driver is usually installed by default on systems with AMD GPU's.
