| I have a huge collection of mods, and like to have them playing in the background. I just wondered what is the best mod player for OS 4/4.1?
I'd ideally like one I can drag a folder into and it will randomly select mods and play them in a playlist so I can just leave it.
I've tried with Tunenet but it seems to just keep repeating the first one it plays over and over.

if by best you mean how good the playback is, then no replayer comes close to UADE, which emulates the paula chip and also emulates the original 68k replayers, meaning that it supports all exotic amiga formats and the playback is SPOT on!
There is no gui for os4 though. :( _________________ AOS4 Betatester, Peg2, G4@1ghz, Radeon 9250 256mb, 1gb RAM.

hmmn so no playlist abilitiy? I don't just want to have to keep loading every mod in manually every few mins, I want something I can make a playlist, or give it a drawer to look at and play randomly from it. |

| I have to disagre that UADE is spot on.
Emulation, especialy of such a complex thing as music adds noice to the sound and some tunes just sound strange. I noticed this with some Future Composer tunes.
If you want to enjoy modules or other Amiga-formats in higha qualiti you will need a genuine Paula chip and a Sound Enhancer (either the Pyramid or Omega version, the Omega is the original and Pyramid the Taiwan clone of Omega).
Paula sounds great on its own, but the Sound Enhancer clearifies the sound and add a new dimension to music on the Amiga... |

TuneNet will read evrything (including MODs of course). Just throw the XMP plugin and you've got your MOD player _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

| @danwood I get on fine with TuneNet, but it doesn't play all my obscure formats, even with additional plugins.
I used to use DeliTracker2 via AHI on Amithlon (which has almost no chipset emulation) so I expect that this would work on OS4. But I have not tried it yet. It supported just about every mod format I ever saw. _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue... |

I use diamplay and it works very fine in OS4 only that is module for module but there are other programs that are 68k or for OS4 but don't run very perfect as this. |

How can I get Tunenet to play through a playlist or randomly from my mods folder though?
I simply drag all the files into a playlist, but it just loops the first one over and over, I can't find a setting to just play once but not repeat. |

There is also Simpleplay and the actual version will skip an unknown format. Anyway, if you use TuneNet, for example, it will recognized some mods which wasn't with SimplePlay and vice versa.
SimplePlay allows also to use the playlist.

| @danwood I'm afraid to report that (for me) DeliTracker 2 locks-up OS4 when I try to play a non-MP3 track. I guess it is doing something very naughty... but it might just be that copying everything from my OS3 system (rather than installing from scratch) broke it.
So try it with the AHI-NotePlayer "genie" (plugin) installed, but don't get your hopes too high... _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue... |

| I´m also interested in using Delitracker or Eaglaplayer under Amiga OS4.1. Some Tunenet-Plugins are still buggy and don´t replay many mod-formats wrong speed, missing effects, wrong effects..etc
Someone should write a patch (i cannot)

| I use the TN_PTPlay plugin for Tunenet because this is the only one that I've found that lets me fast forward through the MODs. All I really want is the ability to skip to the next/previous pattern.
Diamond Player seems to have this functionality as well, but I can't get it to work. It seems to be playing the songs really slowly and "stuttering" :(
An AmigaOS4 compatible version of Delitracker or Eagletracker would be great!

If someone ported the latest uade, and wrote a gui for it we'd get just that! an os4 compatible delitracker. another way to go would be to make a tunenet plugin out of it.

| DeliTracker is very good for 3.x (Paula at least), but on OS4 the timing is slightly wrong (with timerhack); UADE will sound clearly better. _________________ : AmigaOneXE (unmod.) 750FX/512 MB +stuff & AmigaOS 4.(0|1) : A1200/68060&96MB/SCSI/EM1200-Voodoo3 & OS 3.5 : A500/1MB : Pegasos (ff) 512 MB & MorphOS Praise seitan. |
