Fabien Coeurjoly has just released version 1.6 of his port of OWB. He has also released the first public version of a compatible Flash plug-in (swfdec).

New:

Updated to OWB SVN r1158.
Added a GUI for content blocking (windows->content blocking). Regular expressions are accepted, and entries can either be white or blacklisted.
Added "Block images from " context menu item for pictures.
Save and restore the list of downloaded/finished/failed files (optional).
Sessions now also restore scroll offset in pages.
Added support for external transfer animations:
+ PROGDIR:resource/transferanim.png and PROGDIR:resource/transferanim_tab.png will be used if they exist.
+ The expect format is a 32bits PNG with square frames (horizontal layout). The rate is set to 30ms per frame.
Enabled user stylesheet. PROGDIR:resource/userStyleSheet.css will be used if it exists. This user stylesheet allows changing default form controls look, for instance (amongst many other things).
Reworked history popup list to show favicons (optionally), title and url on 2 lines.
Reworked network activity window to show a more precise state (connecting/waiting/current progress).
Network activity leds now show different colours depending on connection state.
Added favicons settings to configure the categories favicons should be displayed in (tabs/history/bookmarks/...).
Added a few more tweaks in mimetype system to fallback to download action if no proper mimetype is sent (or configured).
Added BACK and FORWARD REXX commands.
Added GETURL to retrieve active browser URL (stored in RESULT).
Added AS/K option to SAVEURL REXX command, to choose the target file path.
Added more up-to-date user agents in spoof settings.
Don't change active tab after closing an inactive tab.
Bookmark groups can now also be added to quicklinks. In that case, a popup menu will display group entries.
Allowed editing builtin mimetypes attributes, such as text/html and co (but think twice when modifying them, of course).
Middle clicking an entry in history or bookmark now opens the link in a new tab.
"Copy Image" context menu item now copies the actual image content to clipboard, instead of its URL.
Many fixes in the new cookie system (thanks sszymczy).
Fixed some left mouse button event issue that could cause trouble on googledocs or fckeditor toolbars (thx sszymczy).
Fixed a focus issue with frames.
Fixed a potential race in WebKit with plugins and stream disposal.
Fixed ftp:// listings so that they are browsable.
Fixed the "rewind" error message that could occur during file upload in some cases.
Fixed Acid3 test 97.
Fixed "Paste" to work in rich text editors (such as googledocs).
Fixed a bug with "Cut" function.

Fab are man ! :) That is example how good programmer can work and what can be done in fast timing. Sadly that AOS4 port matures very slowly if compare with it.

Good work.

@Daff

not gonna happen anytime soon, if ever. 1st of all you'll need mui4 for this version. 2nd i dont think fab has the time and/or motivation to do an os4 port, but if mui4 ever come to os4 then they are chances for a port at least. i guess you'll see timberwolf released way sooner before os4 port of owb-morphos:D

Well source are open so others can begin a port, about MUI4 I believe that MUI 4.x functions can be backported "easily" to MUI 3.9

We just need 1 good coder that wants to do that !

This version is "teh bomb".

I just love this browser so I would reject a native FF release anyday =)
If I where a OS4 supporter I would demand that a bounty was opened to get THIS version up and running on the system, it's soo fricking good.

Thanks Fab, you're a true hero!

Well, it's an improvement over 1.5, but 1.5 was already pretty much usable and good!

I think it depends... if the FF port was going to be as good as this one, why not? If it was just an alien browser inside a MorphOS frame, then no thanks... The browser around the OWB/WebKit engine is very nice, drag 'n' drop support between the various GUI elements, full "Amiga-like" context menues, consistent look, feel and usability.. well, it's the best MorphOS browser (I'd say Amiga browser and most would get the point, hopefully).

But why a bounty? Fab never asked a penny, and actually he hasn't even got a PayPal account, so you can't even "Donate!" if you wanted. Does everything require a bounty these days in Amigaland?

I'm worthy, but thanks Fab nevertheless! He's probably the most productive coder around, so, from our point of view really a true hero!

Kind regards,
Andrea

@guruman

This new one wraps up the missing pieces for completeness IMO.
I know that 1.5 was good aswell, but this is better =)

Why I love this OWB version is that its basically is Safari (or other Webkit-based browser) in a neat packaging with heavily influense and functionality of IBrowse.
Heck, I sometimes forget that it's not IBrowse I use, but when the CSS-pages works flawless I recall that it's not =)

I know for sure that Fab doesn't want a dime for his work.
But what I think is sad is that many doesn't understand how great this OWB is and what they are missing. I hope that someone could try to backport it for MUI 3.x and that's where a bounty might come handy if not MUI4 will ever see the light on OS4.
