| I was amazed to see Hyperion's site up again, and running quite fast, so I downloaded the ISO LHA for my Sam440... Strange thing though, the Def Icon for it was blank, so when I double-clicked on it (expecting UnArc to open it) instead Multiview tried to load a 140MB file into memory & show it as text (took some time!).
So I downloaded it a second time (sorry Hyperion), and then did a binary comparison... and you guessed it... identical! Tried loading it into UnArc manually - no luck. Copied it over to PC, and 7zip didn't want to know either
Tried LHA from the Shell, and finally, success! Although it complained about skipping extraneous/corrupt data.
To cut a long story short, there are 113 rubbish bytes before the start of the actual archive, and this is what they look like: Quote:
< font size="+1" color="red" >Warning: We discourage the use of IBrowse or AWeb for product registration< /font >< br >. |
(spaces added around arrows so they show)
Basically somebody screwed up. I guess they moved it to a new server, and forgot to tell it not to add a warning to all non-HTML downloadable files...
edit: Note that I downloaded using IBrowse.Last edited by ChrisH on 15-Jan-2010 at 10:20 PM. Last edited by ChrisH on 15-Jan-2010 at 10:02 PM. Last edited by ChrisH on 15-Jan-2010 at 09:58 PM. Last edited by ChrisH on 15-Jan-2010 at 09:58 PM.

| Tomorrow I might look at writing a little program to strip 113 bytes from a file, if no-one else has already done so, and if it hasn't been fixed by then at Hyperion's end. (Hope nobody is downloading via dial-up!) _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue... |

| @fingus WHEN did you download it? If it was before they fixed their servers, then no surprise!
Also, HOW did you download it? Maybe Hyperion's servers don't like IBrowse? Last edited by ChrisH on 15-Jan-2010 at 10:03 PM.

I downloaded this twice on IBrowse and read on another thread that it gives some rubbish at the front with IB. Now third try with OWB dowloading atm but this is for AmigaOne. |

Me too. I downloaded it TWICE and both times took over an hour each.
I have wasted the whole evening downloading files that do not work.
So much for the wonderful OS4.1 update huh !

Do as the website says and don't use IBrowse for it. As much as you might like it, it's a nightmare to get things like Joomla to work on it._________________ Seriously, if you want to contact me do not bother sending me a PM here. Write me a mail |

| I used IBrowse as well and got the extra bytes at the beginning. But lha produced the ISO out of it anyway. _________________ : AmigaOneXE (unmod.) 750FX/512 MB +stuff & AmigaOS 4.(0|1) : A1200/68060&96MB/SCSI/EM1200-Voodoo3 & OS 3.5 : A500/1MB : Pegasos (ff) 512 MB & MorphOS Praise seitan. |

Yep, lha from OS4Depot seems to just ignore the "junk". ISO burned fine and installation went fluidly. So for those who used IBrowse for downloading; use "lha" to unarc the file (lha x "filename"). Last edited by Monoxyde on 16-Jan-2010 at 01:59 AM.

The web site says don't use IBrowse for *registration*. Well, I was already registered, so that's no problem. It said nothing about *downloading* using IBrowse...
And anyway, it was the warning itself that caused the problem, since it got prepended to the start of the LHA file!Last edited by ChrisH on 16-Jan-2010 at 09:18 AM.
