Apart from the fact this thread is quite bizzare and confusing to say the least, could someone explain in plain English what on earth it's actually about and hoping to achieve...

I'm not exactly dim but there are some highly inaccurate figure being bandied about here such as the number of members for some of the Amiga sites...

Where did you get the figure 4,290 for AmigaWorld.net when it clearly says at the top of the page 4,809 members...

Plus there is the small fact that these figures are highly inaccurate when it comes to gauging active Amiga users. The actual still active members for both A.org & AW.net are way below the membership figures shown on each site...

Then there's the rather large fact that most active Amiga users still around worldwide don't even post on these sites or are even members of them...

If the idea is to try and get an accurate number of Amiga users still active worldwide, then that's going to be a pretty awkward task considering most don't even use these forums...

Maybe I'm totally wrong here but if that's the objective it's not going to end up being very accurate...

Surely adding the amount of money for sputnik to "total raised" at amigabounty is a stretch. Clearly it wasnt raised as it wasnt done and money was returned, so remove over 3000 euro.

This whole thing is pretty convoluted though, and about as clear as mud.
What is your actual aim here?

My 1st thought when I saw the word census was, "oh boy, do we really need to announce to the world how insane this community is?". My second thought was, "oh, cool, another census I can fill out with nothing but 'mind your own freaking business'".

Also, is there any reason youre focusing on OS4.x. That's a far cry from the entirety of the amiga scene. Power2People for example has been involved in a heck of a lot more money than Amigabounty.

I just dont really get the aim here other than advertising how small, confusing, and fractured the amiga scene is these days. Feel free to elaborate though. Im not dismissing the idea, I just dont get what the actual idea is.

All these ideas that people come up with to promote the Amiga, in my opinion do little more than make us appear a desperate laughing stock pleading for a little attention. I personally dont see this as a positive. Simply using and enjoying your amiga, whatever flavor that is seems a much better idea to me, and tends to go over better with people outside the circle.

Who would you trust more,.... a person having fun, enjoying thier system, or the guy trying desperately to justify thier system? (rhetoric)

As for the last sentence, I really couldnt care less how big a project youve worked on in the past. What the heck does it have to do with the price of fish?

your looking at the old 'temp' site again (have no idea why that temp site is till up)..anyway to get to the real site you must fully type "www.amigans.net"

btw, currently at 1170 (with alot of cleansing)
