So what you like is the only the name? so you will be happy if Microsoft buys the name and rebrand Windows ME as AmigaOS and put it on an rebranded HP i7 computer and sell to you as Amiga 7000?

no, I`ll wait you to buy it and ask you how are you feeling yourself that day...
that`s the plan or now...

Do you have anything against it?

I have nothing against anybody in fact i never participate in threads with people kicking each other in the b**t... i just find it quite funny especially coming from those who "invented" the meme "teh true!11!!" to make fun of the others and repeating they weren't interested in labels. Talk about coherence.
Also, as i said to Manu, i'd prefer giving my money to Imica or Ares who are known people in the community and where you know your money goes towards AROS advancement instead to some dubious companies (both C= USA and Amiga Inc)

@SHADES

Way buy an expensive Commodore PC, when you can get almost any PC for less.
Apple is loosing money to the hackintosh market.

For example? I mean, a *lot* of people (inc some Amiga magazines IIRC) were convinced they were for real at the time, and they managed to string people along for quite a while. As I recall, the hints that it was a fake took time (and occasionally some actual journalistic investigation) to accumulate.

* you couldnt find reference to their products from the internet (it was supposed to be long existing company)
* they had dummy download (nothing to download) section for their existing products
* later on content was added to their "download" section. I downloaded one and it was some renamed photoshop file

Problem with CommodoreUSA is that it is fairly easy to bundle PC with AROS and sell it. Everyone could have this kind of business and only thing which could be a hoax is rights to the Amiga trademark.

Maybe. Anyone can fake a press release and claim they acquired something. They obviously dont have copyrights to some or many images used on their website. It is not very convincing.

The Commodore name say something to people. It is a know name and known for great computers they made.

So what, they folded years ago and killed the Amiga at the same time.

Commodore is DEAD, this is a new company using the same name - a bit like Amiga Inc and their scammers actually - so what makes anyone think this is going to be a new ^64 or a new amiga, rather than a mass produced 3rd rate PC with a Commodore badge stuck on it.

If they do this right they can do great things. I have belive in them

And I thought "real Amiga" users tended to be a bit gullible at times. But the news of a crappo PC with a name stuck on it being exciting is beyond credibility.

If you buy one of these thing just run Windoze, it probably works a lot better than AROS anyway.

Well if its going to be so great. where is A-inc website. A pc with Amiga name on it does nothing for me. Much the same as when apple went X86 I lost interest in apple products. its just the same as the rest of the mass produced crap. I just hope one day in the future there will be some thing that is as advanced as amiga was when it come out 25 years ago. I don't care if it is amiga or some one we have not heard of yet as long as we get some thing exciting again soon. getting so board of computers lately nothing new just faster on the same old architecture.

This is wrong. The modern X86's micro-architecture is new i.e. post-RISC core.

http://arstechnica.com/cpu/4q99/risc-cisc/rvc-6.html

Both the Athlon and the P6 run the CISC x86 ISA in what amounts to hardware emulation, but they translate the x86 instructions into smaller, RISC-like operations that fed into a fully post-RISC core. Their cores have a number of RISC features (LOAD/STORE memory access, pipelined execution, reduced instructions, expanded register count via register renaming), to which are added all of the post-RISC features we've discussed. The Athlon muddies the waters even further in that it uses both direct execution and a microcode engine for instruction decoding.

its still not mind blowing is it. I wont to see more power no fans. First to make a computer at 5plus ghz with no fans or cooling heat sinks. Then I would cool that exciting and impressive. Plus the use of fibre optics in the whole motherboard would be some thing to talk about.

Commodore USA doesn't even have the competence to build a website. Building computers are a bit more complicated so what they will end up doing is sticking Amiga stickers on a standard PC and putting a AROS CD in the box.

Me for sure doesn't need a X86 with an Amiga sticker. I already have a X86 on which one I could put Amiga stickers and install AROS.

What is interesting is the Amiga OS developed by Hyperion. As long as Commodore USA don't sells system with the Amiga OS they don't have more in common with Amiga as we know it than just the name. Personally I would not pay more than a dollar for a sticker and I wouldn't put it on a machine not actually being an Amiga OS compatible machine at all.

that doesn't mean a thing in this... how many years has hyperion been working with amiga OS 4 and still they have no web page about it whatsoever.

Maybe we should let the amiga name die and go with some thing like powered by hypeOS
. And start to build a new name in computers. After all you say amiga now days and most people just laugh or have not heard of it.

Hyperion have a nice looking website.

Commodore USA's website looks like something from the mid 90's. Telling that there are a lack of both objectivity and self-criticism within the company.

Agreed... but I haven't said that. I said they've got no OS4 website to speak of and they've been dealing with it for years.

That's true. Personaly I don't think it's bad they don't have such a website at the moment. Such a website would probably mean more harm to the OS than advantages at the moment. When Hyperion are ready to market the OS to customers outside the current community I am sure they will have a nice website for the OS.
