Hi Everyone!

The return of Commodore. Looks like it is as poorly ran as it was in the 80s and 90s, but wait, there is more, partnered with Amiga Inc for that extra flavor of failure.

Look, more power to the people who want AROS on an X86 chinese made pc which some stickers on it.

As I see it, see you later all you x86 trolls, there you go, have fun. Now you can leave us alone so we can move on with AmigaOS4 and the X1000.

@Argosy

Oh, I wouldn't be so sure that PPC will be "...gone tomorrow". Unless CommodoreUSA manages to arrange for something much better than a pale shadow of OS4 or even MorphOS I don't think many people will stay interested for long in something that may look like an Amiga on the outside but runs Windows, Linux or maybe a version of AROS that is just beginning to become useful. Without a real Amiga OS or serious Amiga-like OS there is little point to calling these Amigas. I can't see anyone that is much of a fan of Amiga OS3.1 or OS4 to have much if any interest in any computer called an Amiga that can't run any version of Amiga OS or MorphOS for that matter. As a fan of OS4 I certainly wouldn't be interested.

Way buy an expensive Commodore PC, when you can get almost any PC for less.
Apple is loosing money to the hackintosh market.

Then again, Apple's recent sales numbers showed a 33 percent growth in Mac computer sales between April and June 2010 compared to the same period last year.

Microsoft did not buy the Commodore-Amiga brand.

Licensing the Amiga trademark rights from Amiga Inc is the only way to obtain the "Amiga" name.
That's where their involvement ends.

We intend to put the latest tech in our new custom-built Amiga keyboards.
If the mobos are created in China or Taiwan like practically every other mobo on the planet is not a concern I share.
We will be positioning the Amiga brand as the high-performance Commodore option.

@BigBentheAussie

Honestly, i would have liked a softer start for the C=US AROS adoption, something on the way of the already present iMica and Ares One; am honestly concerned about several things and among those the fact that this action might hinder in part the slow reapproaching of the several amiga flavors that semed happening partially. And am also concerned aobut the future of the AROS project,despite i heard many people telling that since AROS does not have a real organizational structure it cannot be taken down, but cannot avoid the feeling to come out.

i personally am a pragmatical person; people and things gain a respectable position according to their acts and words, and that is also my personal course of action in advocating AROS: showng the facts in order to gain respect and support more than words;

from one side i want to give you my best wishes for the new line, from the other would like to advise that, in my opinion, in order to gain more respect and look legitimate to the community C=US need to get involved actively in the development of AROS either via funding or in contributing to the codebase or to the actual driver park; that might help.

One thing that I think has annoyed a lot of people is the fact that this company has got the Commodore Name and now the Amiga name so easily when companies that the community actually like and support Hyperion, A-cube, A-eon, Cloanto, bplan Genesi, the Aros team etc All have had either legal battles between Amiga Inc over copyrights or had to remove Amiga references from there platform.

I'm sure Acube would of loved to be able to call there machine Amiga440 / Amiga460, I'm sure bplan would of loved to been able to call MorphOS, the AmigaOS. And Aros I believe was called something Amiga but it had to removed due to legal issues.

Even Cloanto a great Amiga company that developed software and supported the Amiga for years recently had a legal battle over the use of the Amiga Forever name, to me they and all these other companies who have put money into the Amiga and the community have stayed with the community though the tough time and the hard time they all deserve the Amiga name a lot more than this start up company and I think this is why you are getting a lot more abuse and a tougher time than perhaps you deserve, it now time for CommodoreUSA to prove to us they deserve the name and let see what they do with it and I just hope they dont do damage to the name or to AmigaOS

One more thing now I think about how come CommodoreUSA dont do a deal with Cloanto on there C64 forever and Amiga Forever programs.

I don't think that a couple of stickers will make these efforts much better than iMica or Ares, (I also don't know what the Aros developers will think about Amiga inc, trying making money thanks to their efforts on Aros).

AmigaOS and MorphOS users won't even notice.

@amigang

Timing is everything. When Hyperion and BPlan negotiated with Amiga Inc, AI was dealing from a position of (perceived) strength so they could dictate whatever terms they wanted. I strongly suspect that Amiga Inc is not doing too well after having to pay their lawyers for the very long court case, so Leo's company could afford to play a little hardball. It sucks for Hyperion and bPlan, but that's life.

As far as Cloanto and C64 Forever, wouldn't it be the other way around? Cloanto is using CUSA's IP (in the form of the C64's ROMs), so they'd be the ones needing to get a license. I hope that goes smoother than the current fracas with Hyperion and OSNews, I'd hate to see C64 Forever caught in the same legal sargasso that tied up OS4.

No - it has a so called game controller...
