@Tuxedo

Yeah, without that crappy freeze we can consider this port complete at 99%

Then, only minor issues will remain, then what we miss are a couple of major things

1 - Merge with latest 1.12 Fab's changes
2 - Add HTML5 video and NPAPI plugin support (using Gnash ? We will see !)

Of course that one will come later, usability issue first

Yep, but that will be 100% not in the first release. First one will be without MediPlayer and just 1.9. Then, after that, if users will in interest about, and so on, then other stuff will be involved (merging with code, adding mediplayer).

But maybe first release will be also with NPAPI (pretty possible, because its looks like not that hard as was expected). But not priority anyway.

What plugins will be used for Flash it will up to the plugin writers :) Can be swfdec as on morphos, or Gnash, or anything else .. For plain "youtube" stuff for the first release can be used the same way with getvideo/mplayer stuff.

@kas1e

I think the mediplayer and flash related for the first release wasnt important, the only thing that was important was that NASTY bug :(

(But if you can put it in better :) )

Hope that you all can found it asap!

Than(only than...), I think when you can focus on the flash plugin simply choose the better between swfdec and gnash and use it(admitting that gnash plugin was ready if better...)

GOOD WORK!

Its not we will make a flash plugin :) Its work for others. We will only enable NPAPI support and give some small/easy examples to show how plugins can be done. All in all, for most of us flash are only need it for Youtube , and youtube will works over mediaplayer / html5.

@kas1e

flash was moslty usefull for youtube yes but I think there was much more utility in a good flash player like:

1 - Radio station streaming
2 - some sites use flash intensively and you cant browse them without it
3 - facebook apps(not for me but most ppl use it...)

I know you dont made plugin yourself I explained bad sorry :P

@NutsAboutAmiga

Yep :) I think little doc + small example will be enough to making plugins.

@all

I made a new video , in which i compare speed of current mui-owb with reaction-owb on Facebook and on google-maps. In the begining of video i also run youtube clip from context menu, so no need clipdown like on reaction owb , and no need to copy something to somether. Just choice link, and choice "play video". With mediaplayer / html5 even that will not need , but for first release its even like this will be better in compare with reaction owb.

There is video

the performance on cpu dependant task as loading and rendering the page seems to be about similar. blitting to screen though makes a huge difference, obviously. i even think it must be something simple in reaction owb code preventing it to catch up, like some internal conversion that has to take time.

@wawa

Fab already explain in post 437 in that thread why it faster:

Quote:

To be a bit more precise, OWB MorphOS can only be faster, for design reasons:
- Refresh method uses some heuristic to reduce the surface to render when possible and when it's profitable to do so.
- For pages with fixed elements like facebook status bar, scrolling should really be substancially faster than OWB Reaction, because it scrolls using blitter first and then redraws the fixed elements later, instead of redrawing the whole page, like OWB Reaction would do (what i'm talking about can't apply to pages with fixed backgrounds, though).

Sure , in reaction OWB it can be done the same, but its not :)

The scrolling performance looks indeed very promising compared to reaction version.
I cant wait to try it on my sam.
