@kas1e + Samwel

If I remember correctly it's fully Intuition + rewritten classes nowadays and not old Reaction anymore since 4.1. If I'm wrong hopefully somebody from AOS dev team will correct me.

@kas1e

Mr Strohmayer made also AOS 3.x version of OWB.

@Samwel

What we call "Reaction" is little more than a collection of high-level macros and methods that call the lower-level objects. The methods in gadtools.library supply a part of that lower-level functionality.

I think I remember Joerg saying once that he preferred to call the lower-level functions directly, rather than use the higher-level "Reaction" constructs. One man's meat is another's poison, I guess.

Yes is exactly what i mean, but didn't know was so complicated !

Thanks for the new grabs !

Thanks to you and Fab so very much! I think Fab are amazing for making OWB this good but also for helping you with porting it to AOS 4, what a guy!

Also thanks for the screenshots and for letting the reast of us know about the progress and for all the work you put in it. It's become something that is much fun to follow and wait for.

@all
mui-owb progress:

Few days ago i made a short video, which i not upload because thinks changes fast, but now, when i have some kind of relief , and Deniil wth Fab are offline, i want to share it (just to show some more progress):

There is youtube video

Since last post (and after that video was done) some other changes and fixes was done, like:

-- fix of png unpacking (was because of version of png library from os4depot, so i build my own, from other series, and it works fine. I.e. its not problem of porter, just looks like authors broken something, or introduce new and a bit different code)

-- fix of fontconfig (it uses for fonts) - that one was pretty boring, beause of heavy linux-posix code (so, if someone will later port it to os3/aros, you should know that ./configure; make will not enough).

-- Deniil fix some mui4/mui3 dependences, which allow to use all the windowses of owb (including download manager, for example for now, i can download files from mui-owb, and see donwload manager, there is little screenshot) (still a bit ugly, without right columns, etc, but that all is cosmetic, not hardcore problems).

-- Deniil fix also some threading crap, which make all the stuff better.

And some little think which i not remember.

That all was done of course with big help from Fab. I.e. he answer on our questions, give us ideas, etc.

At the current moment, we have some problems with rendering, and childs of main window (i.e. no url bar, no buttons, etc, need to fix that as well). Also it not exits properly, windowses offten crashes because of other mui4 deps and disabled features. But we can for example already render sites, save it as html, or as pdf, do that and that (that is because i hold hourse with uploading that video, in hope that i will upload the better one, but while it take a bit more time, i upload current one, just to bring some info).

And at the end:
screen1
screen2

If it's OWB for AOS4.1 why does screen1 show OWB1.9 for MorphOS?

Very strange question. Did you know that is port of browser from morphos ? ITs not owb for aos4, its owb for morphos, which in-progres-of-porting-to-aos4. Anyway, everyone (i very hope) already understrand, that by this screenshot, you can see that fonts are renders , and default morphos-owb "about" are showns. Strange that someone even ask "why it show morphos". Smeels fanboish a bit, no? I mean did you really want imagine that we will change on that moment html-about pages ? (the most harder part ! yeah !)

@rzkool
Yeah, the same :)

@kas1e

Very nice progress

Only a minor considerations;

Maybe it's the time to upgrade from 1.9 to the latest source, 1.9 is a bit old right now while i think Fab is close to finalize 1.12

Off course no hurry at all, aniway

The about page looks ugly (the same as original MOS release aniway) today i have some free time so maybe i can create and send you a better one, similar to the one already availible on Reaction port

Eventually i have a question about it: It is hardcoded into the main source as the Reaction one or it is just an HTML page locally linked ?

BTW same question goes for the various error pages

@samo79

"about" page its the very-very latest problem about which need to worry for now. ITs a hardcoded, but thery is no differences hardcoded or not, because that "about page stuff", are absolutly not problem, and absolutly un-hard and 100% make no sense to worring about at this step. But you can send the stuff, why not. If fab will agree with it, then we can put it to os4 release. But in general there is no sense, because maybe fab even will change name of browser (because its no more "just a core" , and to avoid misunderstood), so .. dunno if all that worring about "about page" make any sense now.

Related to sync with 1.12 , well .. there is too much to do in 1.9 for now. But when that will done and tested, and we will not have any bugs, then yeah, plans are be in sync with fab's latest code (if he will in interest to sync it).

Of course as you say it's a very a minor issue right now (if we can call it "issue"), i just like graphics things and i like to contribute in some way as i can

@all
mui-owb progress:

1. Deniil add one more wrapper, now for tabs. its not so fancy for now , but in progress (you will see on screenshots)

2. Fighting with heavy rendering errors (black screen), and for now loose about 5 days on it with no luck, but, step by step and we will found the roots for sure (fab are stressed enough by that crap, i am sure:) )

3. That and that there and there (usuall stuff about minor changes).

And at the end few screenshots (no, for now you can't normally go at site, because heavy problems is here, but, its again some step to the happy final):

a.org
aw.net
amigans
bbc.co.uk
google
youtube

Still tons to do: navigation buttons, url-group tab, getting of text, fixing that render problem and .. and tons of cosmetic stuff
