| I recently wrote a longish (1,800 words) essay about the fun I've been having with my Sam440 and AOS4.1 and launched it as a well-received thread over on Amiga.org. That got me thinking that I'd like to contribute more -- notes, articles, tutorials, images, etc. -- so I put together a webpage that will expand to more pages as time goes by. The essay from Amiga.org is front and center for now. Don't expect a quick pace of content expansion, but as whims strike me the offerings will grow. I will also host any worthwhile contributions from others in the AOS community.

terrific page, mike. enjoyed it thoroughly. these type of stories, screenshots, and examples were what caused me to find the amiga in the first place. also nice to see amiga guys in the US.

Fantastic site Mike, great user experience in print for web surfers to find and balanced.
Love the Aros parts, all fair and shows room for improvement.
Great Job. _________________ Amiga 1000, 3000D Toaster, Checkmate A1500 Plus http://www.checkmate1500plus.com/ |

Nice little page :)
When i start to read your message, i was in fear that now there will be one more ugly site, with limited html code and without any kind of design , but good that i was wrong. Looks pretty fine. Some thinks of course can be changes (like for example, loading of images are a bit slow, i think because you not make tumbs for ?), but in general for me it looks fine. _________________ Join us to improve dopus5! zerohero's mirror of os4/os3 crosscompiler suites |

Your "thumbnails" are just PNG pictures scaled by the HTML image size tag, so people with slower bandwith must load the whole 50kB of a 800x600 screenshot for a "thumbnail" with 156x117 pixels.
You should change this.
And their is a lot of text on the homepage, you should try to splitt this informations about different pages.
Parts of the informations in the HTML header ar still set to the default values from the template you used: META Name="Description" Content="description" META Name="Keywords" Content="keywords separated by commas"
Your EMail address is written in plain ASCII readable for every robot searching for spam victims.
You should hide the text with Javascript od use an image instead.
Update:
There is something strange in your Header [code] #header { height: 100px;
+head++link rel="shortcut icon" padding: 10px; microsoft.icon" href=" ttp://www.flat-stomach-e e cise}c#leftnav { co" /+ [/code] Last edited by Arko on 02-Mar-2011 at 01:12 PM. Last edited by Arko on 02-Mar-2011 at 01:11 PM.

Very informative for people outside of community. Can I have one request? Images on the left sidebar are scaled with img tag, that means I need to download megabytes of data even if I don't want to see close up. Could you produce thumbs and link to full images instead? Other than that I have no major complains. _________________ OpenWindows Initiative. Port PS3 hardware to bananas. For free. Join today and receive expired $50 cupon from AI! |

| Thanks, folks! I will try to tidy up the HTML and will definitely replace the large images with thumbs. You will still be able to click to go full size. This is a good learning experience for me. _________________

| I cleaned up the html a bit and replaced all the scaled images with thumbnails. Hopefully things are loading a lot faster. Hard to tell here because I'm blessed with a quick connection. These pages (there will be more in time) are gonna be a bit text heavy -- maybe not the best way of doing things but just the way I'm going about it.
I'm not ready to throw in with another site, at least not now. I'm having fun setting this up and I've got a vision for how I want it to be. Like all my hobbies, there'll be periods of intense activity and also long stretches of me being preoccupied with something else.
Thanks for all advice and encouragement. Now I need to go figure out how to hide my e-mail from the spambots with javascript. Like I said, this is a learning experience!

I must admit that a MorphOS paragraph has made my evening. You hapilly mistake disk partition labels with volume names. DH0: and DH1: are partition labels, and in fact these are usual names on Amiga as well. Work: is a volume name. There is no problem with having Work: volume name for DH1: partition (guess what is my DH1: name? Yes, Work:!). I'm a bit surprised that a seasoned Amiga user like you, seems to be puzzled here.
It should be also noted that eMac is not the only hardware to run MorphOS on. My PowerMac (2001 production) is older than your eMac, yet it is connected to a modern LCD display giving perfect image. It is not a MorphOS flaw - what you seem to suggest - that your eMac display is worn out.
It is understandable that you may not like MorphOS, but please, there is no need for finding so funny excuses .

I see where you're coming from, as I didn't make that passage as clear as I meant it to be. I do know the difference between device names and volume names. I'll fix up the muddled writing this evening. And, as I said, I could make a home with MorphOS.
There are pros and cons to MorphOS running only on aging hardware, and there are pros and cons to AOS running only on custom new hardware. I see the advantages and disadvantages of both approaches. AOS is what is tickling my fancy so, for right now at least, I've put the eMac away. I do have a PowerMac G5 that I bought new in 2003 still up and running, however. Who knows? It may be running MOS some day. _________________

| Indeed I am. One person can only do so much, and I am not that great at reviewing software. Especially software I cannot even run.
Any help with the Wiki side of things would be most helpful... unless there is a dramatic rise in software releases anytime soon I can't see much of a need for written reviews on the main site.
Your article was a great read Mbrantley, read it from beginning to end. I love reading stories like this, puts a smile on your face.
Confused by Hondo's idea of a 'KILLER' website, given his statement over on the other thread. Perhaps I'll delete AmigaOS.net and make it plain text with zero CSS to give it that authentic feel just for Hondo.
At the end of the day, content is more important to me, than design. If there is little to say, you can dress it up as much as possible there will still be nothing to say - just like the C=AUS site.. nothing to offer anyone except crazy people... but likes great... well okay-ish... oh and whilst we are at it - thanks for the google translation idea.... I'll take that thank you. Last edited by djrikki on 02-Mar-2011 at 07:36 PM.
