My bet is a new case for the Sam460, maybe Acube have acquired the X500 designs from TheDaddy?

How about the PowerPC e500 as the next processor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerPC_e500

Could this be the 500 the ad refers too?

@amigang

Now its guessing game, but anyway it will not pass too long before we know ...

Might be next AMCC 470 chip based board? Better Minimig?

PowerPC 470
The 470 embedded and customizable core, adhering to the Power ISA v2.05 Book III-E, was designed by IBM together with LSI and implemented in the PowerPC 476FP in 2009.[16] The 476FP core has 32/32 kB L1 cache, dual integer units and a SIMD capable double precision FPU that handles DSP instructions. Emitting 1.6 W at 1.6 GHz on a 45 nm fabrication process. The 9 stage out of order, 5-issue pipeline handles speeds up to 2 GHz, supports the PLB6 bus, up to 1 MB L2 cache and up to 16 cores in SMP configurations.
LSI Axxia ACP3448 - 1.8 GHz, 4× 476FP cores, 512 kB L2 cache per core, 4 MB L3 cache on chip, 2× DDR3 controllers, 2× 10 Gbit Ethernet, 3× PCIe and a variety of network processing engines.

I really can't see any SAM460 successor being announced for a good while yet.

According to what m3x wrote weeks ago in amiganews.it, it's really too early for a possible successor to Sam460ex.
Thus excluding a new motherboard, my ideas are:

- a new Minimig or something classic related
- an AmigaOne X500 as a complete computer with custom case based on the Sam460ex hardware
- a notebook (I hope for this one, but I guess it's difficult)

Ipad=Sam500(OS4.1). Amiga already has Ipads, but not running AmigaOS.

Quite intriguing! I will put off my Sam460ex purchase for a couple more weeks. Although with my luck there won't be any systems available by then.

The whole reason I havn't purchased yet is because of AmigaKit case situation.
However, Shufflepuck's suggestion for this case is excellent. But I think his projest is a ways out yet.

All the new recent updates are exciting too!

my bet: OCS/ECS functionality built into the SAM FPGA or minimig2.

More guess and highly unlikely but it fun to guess.
Natami Manufactures?
Xmos expansion card for X1000?
Xmos for Sam systems?
Minimig Update?
New Software for AmigaOS4?
Amiga App Store?
A500 Re-produce? (like the c64x but with a minmig or sam inside)

http://twitter.com/#!/acubesystems
"ACube's Secret Files will be revealed on 19th September, 2011... stay tuned!"

But I'm guessing it more to do with software than hardware.

@amigang

Let`s wait and see. However, OCS/ECS compatibility for SAM 440/460 FPGA would be nice

Don`t forget that ACube has Soft3 developers division that has proven to be quite able

@thread

It would be unwise for Acube to release any new Amiga models for at least 2 years yet.

The X1000 will be in the limelight.

Acube should be looking into the following technology for a New Amiga in 2013-2014.

processor 32/64bit hyrid >2.5 DMIPS /mhz
DDR 3 support
media processor

299 euro systems

@asymetrix

Maybe. Maybe not. Just think about it. The X1000 will be an expensive 'toy' for a lot of us here. So if Acube can deliver an X500 at a price somewhere between the 460 and the X1000 I can't see why it would do any harm. The ones who deeply want an X1000 will buy one, no matter what. That's how I bought my A3000 back in the early 90s. If I would have been rational that time I could have bought an A600 with an 030 accelerator but I wanted the A3000. I had the money for it.

If Acube can deliver something between the 460 and the X1000 then I doubt it would really get sales away from the X1000, I guess it would be from the 460 .

True, until AmigaOne X1000 is out with polished OS 4.2, SAM 460 remains the fastest choice, and even then it can be moved to the medium category, being fast and modern enough. So lets say its unlikely it will be new AmigaNG board.

Hope the "top secret" will be nice and not too expensive!

@Amiga4000

Thank god I have not ordered that case yet, maybe this secret file is The Daddy's X500+ produced by ACube?! Anyhow, guess I'll put on hold my 460 purchase for another two weeks as well, you never know, I'm really hoping for a portable..

Well its got us talking and thats what ads are supposed to do :)

Laptop: hell no
tablet: hell no

Why hell no? Way too much resources. Developer time, and most importantly money.

I hope its a NG Amiga in the X500 case..

I know something from someone who knows and the most probable thing is:
Intel Atom inside of the Amiga 500 case (+ 2GB RAM +250GB HD).
the main OS is Linux Mint, but you gonna have some wallpapers and WinUAE for free

Linux and wallpapers, god that sounds so unimaginative and dull!
