@mr2

Just to be sure, try to increase stack size like "stack 1000000" and run it from shell to see if it helps. Also try with the same big stack run from shell with "mplayer -gui 1".

That all to be sure if it can be stack related problems or not.

New non altivec version works here as well with exception of buttons.
The playback is much slower than dvplayer though, but i guess that is because of no overlay.

@kas1e

Oh my, it was me tottaly messed up

I was unknowingly using from shell, the OLD, Andreas Mplayer. It was in c: folder. The new one is named mplayer_generic. The old one can't play this flv file but your version plays it OK (with GUI and from shell).

Still , it crashes while trying to exit/stop. No matter, with GUI, from shell or with -GUI 1. See crashlog in my #97 post. I have added very high stack. It also crashes when video ends.

BTW. I replaced GUI buttons with those from AISS. Now mplayer fits a little bit OS4 theme...sure Mason will do it better

@djrikki

Yeah, but they works. The problems with "toggling", because our DtPic class in our mui, not fully features rich, so it will be fixed in next update by new mui.

@ALL

New version on os4depot (now upload query). What new:

1. fixed timer-slider (just some bug in public mui, fixed in beta ones)
2. added stack cookie (no more crashes because of that)
3. added 2 versions : full altivec one and generic one. While do all tests, better to not worry about putting all in one binary, will do it later when everything will works (and overlay too)
4. added asyncio.library to the right place, so no need to worry anymore about related problems.

Known problems:

1. All .flv files crashes on exit.

2. Buttons in the control panel visually do not change their state - that is limitation of our current DtPic mui class. Hope will be fixed in the update4.

@kas1e
I only tried the slider and the quit to be honest and those gave me a guru. Escape button worked fine to quit it though.
I just assumed it would give same crash with all. Will give it another try tomorrow.

Edit: I have not tried the very latest version you just posted in the post above though.

@kas1e

All crashes are fixed now, fantastic !
But i note a strange behaviour, some videos are not in sinch expecially my MP4 files downloaded from YouTube (this can be normal with certain videos) but because of that (and at the end of that videos) the audio will go in loop forever!

This problem never happen with Reaction MPlayer, good sinch or not

I note also that the AHI will be used at 100% on your MPlayer port, so for example if i try to open AmigaAMP or for example another instance of MPlayer (the Reaction one) i don't have any audio output during the playing of MUI MPlayer ...

Do plz again all your tests (and with music, and with all those videos which crashes).

OS4depot seemed to not be the good one....take the one on the uploads page.

- OK. Just played more than 100 differents movies files (.avi, .mpg, .wmv) and no problems.

- played .mp3 files. allways the very small noise (tic) at the start of each .mp3. the noise is this time more lower.

- .VOB file is very very slow to be played that with DVplayer.

Just some speed comments before going to job office

EDIT: at the job office Sometimes movies played their sounds verry verry fast but the movie by itself played at normal speed.

Did you test latest version which in upload query , or what you mean "not be the good one" ?

Ok, good to know.

That "tic", happens only at start ? No noices while playing mp3 ?

Quote:

I assume its because of "no-overlay" support for now. All the other video files should be slow as well imho.

Sounds like sync problem. Did you check "preferences" ?

Flv files crashes on the stop/exit for you as well ?

As far as i remember, mplayer os4 also uses the ahi audio drivers from the MorphOS port. There are 2: ahi and ahi_dev. The first one (default) is using music unit (using AHI library API and better for synchronization, but unfortunately exclusive) and the second one using device mode (not exclusive). To be noted that if you select the "device.audio" mode in music unit, applications using music unit will be redirected to device mode, allowing them to be shared as well.

So, in short, try -ao ahi_dev option or the equivalent option in gui settings for audio output driver, or configure your AHI prefs to use device.audio mode in music unit.

As for audio synchronization issue, i never saw that kind of effect, unless your video is seriously lagging behind audio for speed reasons.

@kas1e

Will try new version and .flvs later.
The sync problem is due to lack of speed, IMO. Almost all videos show 95-100% CPU usage.
It is video which is much slower, not audio.

Then its just lucking of overlay cause that. So, no problems for now as well then.

The only problem: crashes on .flv files at stop/exit, and only on them. Trying to understand for now why that happens.

As i wrote in the news thread most probably you can't since our gcc, when you use altive extenstions switch, will add internal code that optimize stuff like "for" statement using altivec etc etc.
So you must release two versions otherwise those doen't have a G4 will receive always a crash

@afxgroup

For now i release 2 version, but hope to make all in one. Maybe i didn't undersand what you mean, but Fab mean that while build scripts not have support for "all in one binary", we just build it like this: build all as generic one, and only necessary files (for decoders) builds with altivec support.

So, while binary will be "generic" one, codecs and stuff will use altivec when need it, and not , when its not need it (for detecting of cpu there is also cpu_runtime_detection with necessary function).

For now i build 2 binarys just to do tests normally, add overlay and stuff, but in end of all, for the final result, i of course want to do the same as fab already do for morphos: 1 binary, in which only relevant objects compiled with altivec support.

Playing the .mp3 is perfect for me, just the tic problem (at start of each .mp3).

Don't know because I don't have actually .FLV files on my HD. Need to found some first

@all

Crash on .flv files are fixed ! Thanks to fab for pointing out on all the stuff :)

In brief: Looks like os4 gcc/code/memory-allocator-itself/includes by some reassons not works with memaling_hack from ffmpeg/libavutil/mem.c, and that mode was enabled by default in config.h (for morphos that works fine) , and crashes when tryes to free memory. Strange throug that it happens only with .flv files, but it also can happens and with all others before.

So, the fix = disabling of mem_align_hack, and enabling of having plain mem_align. There is nothing bad in disalbing of it, its just about not having posix's or SDK's memalign (while on morphos mem_align_hack works), and so we use os4 sdk's memalign, and it works.

In other word, we loose nothing, just now use memalign from os4's sdk, and not inbuild one in the ffmpeg
