@wawa
Since the other thread is locked, I will reply here.

Quote:
by the looks of your spelling, seems you keep trying to imply a link between os4 and communism, obviously ibeing critical about it?
strange though, aros "kommunity" is much more "communist" than the os4 one. because they kinda "inline" under common goal, instead just accept a power beyond, aros being a plain *cooperative* effort. or maybe you just refer to communism as in "stalinism" or 1984? just wonder.

Bzzzt, wrong but thanks for playing! Anyone who was watching the happenings of the Amiga online back in the late 90's knows why the Amiga Kommunity is spelled with 'K' and not a 'C'. I did not start it, it was started by a former Amiga Inc CTO named Barry Moss, aka "Fleecy" Moss, aka Wayne Dresing. Fleecy was employed by Amiga Inc back in the Gateway 2000 days and ultimately let go by GW2k (But later joined McBill as CTO of the newly independent (Amino) Amiga Inc). In between Fleecy tried starting a movement called KOSH for which he stated there would be a new Kommunity for Amigans. AFAIR nothing about KOSH ever caught on, except "Kommunity".

I can't believe you don't know Fleecy Moss??? Fleecy was quite popular on this website and even had his own Q&A for a long time.

http://web.archive.org/web/20051215015616/http://amigaworld.net/modules/fleecymoss/

Some comedy gold in those Q&A sessions. You would have to did deeper to find info on KOSH. Try this link?

[FM] KOSH stands for Kommunity OS and Hardware. It is an attempt to create a platform that is owned by and serves the Kommunity, as opposed to the other way around. KOSH accepts that the Kommunity is the most important part of any platform, and that its talents, passions and loyalty are the greatest resource. The Operating System and Hardware are just the core around which the Kommunity grows and develops.

I hope this helps

-Edit-
Fixed spelling of Wayne Dresing.

@redrumloa

Its probably a german thing - gerograph spells Kompression instead of Compression in iBatch as an example.

@djrikki

It's not German thing it's a Babylon 5 thing (well a bad pun cos he had to misspell Komunity)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosh_Naranek

Not heard of the Fleecy version of KOSH must have been before I was online.

@broadblues

Substituting "K" for "C" seemed to be popular with Nu-Metal fans for a time, probably something to do with Kerrang.

Oh... I had completely different idea for Kommunity...

But who knows what is Amiga Development Pipeline (ADP)?

Quote:

Fleecy: The Amiga Development Pipeline (ADP) starts with the Opportunity Analysis stage. Each AG2 domain thus considers every possible opportunity and attempts to identify every potential customer for that domain, both internal and external. This is then feed into the next stage, the Solution Description stage. This ensures that we will design a solution that covers as wide a customer base as possible, even though the actual implementation versioning may chose to spread out that complete design over a set of releases.

-Edit-

@redrumloa

Well I think C should be removed from the English language, it is sometimes used as an S or a
K sound; so get rid of it and use S or K..

Interesting. You are the first UK citizen I've ever heard pushing against the old-school spelling scheme. To my understanding, there is no opinion at all in the UK in favor of a similar kind of spelling reform that streamlined US English over a century ago (anyone interested in the topic may want to point their browser of choice to Wikipedia and its article about the Simplified Spelling Board).

The defense rests.

"c" just looks too round and therefore too defensive.

@redrumloa

thanks for enlightment. im pretty thankful it wasnt meant as what i thought it was. i have heard this fleecy guy being mentioned around, but never cared much to check who he was. must be that after 98 i wasnt much into the internet what concerns amiga "kommunity" (i didnt have much hopes for the platform, especially seeing the clumsy amiga techologies fail) and about 2000 the only news about it were what the local dealer told me. first time ive posted on an amiga forum ws much later when i needed help writing some script.

so looks like ive had kinda blackout at that time, which isnt exactly tragic i think.

btw. i must say this theory doesnt seem very wrong at least what concerns amiga and its follow up variants. im not really sure if there is actual technical interest really in the foreground anywhere here.
