| (self employed) Italian language teacher (as an all year round job here) and Co-owner of a beach bar that stays open for 3 months during summer, so I could clearly admit that i'm a barista also. in the meantime i'm a part time researcher in Early childhood education for the local university while doing my Phd on Lego Mindstorms/logo-like tools and their educational impact on little kids. It's interesting the variety of members' jobs so far.

Started out in programming in circa 2003, Macromedia Authorware, touched on C++ somewhat - not that I remember any of it 8 years on lol
Right now I am self-employed as a DJ and Web Designer, if you wanna website doing feel free to get in touch work is a little thin-on-the-ground atm - no-one wants to spend any money!
Both look somewhat #### in OWB - fine in everything else.

Cranked a wrench on heavy equipment till a broken knee sent me to college for a EE degree.
Although spending more time in electronics/communications, including 6 years teaching, I still consider myself, and love being, a mechanic. |

Being somekind of a Jack-of-all-trades, I got into computing in about 1974 or 1975 when i was a student at some vocational highschool for economics and accountancy studies. At school we had access to a timesharing computersystem 150 miles down the block. 't Was a Honeywell-Bull/General Electric afair to be programmed in BASIC. Quite soon I got bitten by the virus of programming. Later, while still a student, on my skills turned to COBOL by visiting the computersetup of the local university. The computer was a CDC Cyber-70, surrounded by a really huge number of clustered DEC PDP's and VAXes, serving as the front-end for the main computersystem. From 1978 onwards I got employed with several companies (some 8 in 13 years...) and was constantly programming, COBOL on an ICL 2904, RPG-II on an IBM S/32, S/34, S/36. RPG400 on an AS/400 (by far the finest machine!). Done some systemprogramming on an IBM S/370-mainframe. Did Basic-II on a WANG 2200. Did C on some Unix machine. Coding, coding, coding. Got tired, married, father and fired in 1990. Started an official business in selling spares for and doing repairs to classic Brittish motorcycles, mainly Triumph 650/750 Bonnevilles, but Tridents and the smaller capacity range was eventually catered for as well. Expanded business with Norton Commando spares. In 4 hours a day I could make more money then in a well-payed computerrelated job. In the quiet parts of the year I still did some computerprogramming, mainly RPG on an AS/400 or C (Keil-C) for some µcontroller system (Intel 851?). All the time still coding away in whatever condition. Got myself an Amiga somewhere in 1994. 't Was an A1200 with no mentionsworthy expansion. Still have the one, but it sits now quite a bit more expanded in an ElBox tower and the whole thing is in good working order and for sale, btw. Got the Storm-C compiler and got myself ago with that. After 19 years of marriage I got divorced, now working entirely for my own. Growing cannabis. The more it is harried by law, the bigger the profits. Americans will testify this very curiosity in elicity as they have experience in this respect with the 'Prohibition', the alcoholfree period some 80-odd years ago when Al Capone rose to become a millionaire, but regretably forgot to pay the taxman. Have been instructing 'elderly' people in getting acquainted with computers (I publically confess here that I've instructed them in the use of Windows), but when XP got superceded with Vista and later '7', I lost contact and interest. While still programming for Amiga (OS4.x flavour) in C, I now also double as courier for some large transporting company specialising in serving mostly governmental institutions. On Wednesday evening I teach some people to play music on a very Scotland oriented instrument.
So there you have it. I thought you'd never ask.

Wow you should have held onto that one and the DeLorean time machine you must've used to pick that Amiga up... Vintage 1981 eh...
(Did you sell the idea to Jay Miner)...
Reckon you mean the VIC 20 or 1991 for an Amiga... _________________

I'm a computer programmer, currently unemployed but still hopeful. I'm thinking of going back to college to get into either web development or something database-related if something doesn't turn up soon. |

| I set my sights sky high, I work in the Aerospace industry. ;)
Just finishing off the development of a PowerPC based graphics system for a fixed wing application. Before that have worked on Head Up Displays (managed to get Tetris running on one) actuators/motor control and communications networks.
Outside work I play with electronics, encompassing many areas, mainly microcontroller based, especially Arduino and Microchip PIC. Also produced some Amiga hardware hacks.
I have enjoyed all Star Trek shows, though Voyager was the weakest. We have debates on who was the best Captain at work, yes I work with a bunch of nerds.

Now why oh why do I get a picture of you with a mobb and bucket in my head after reading that jobdescription ?
I setup (and sometimes update/repair) industrial cranes all over Germany and (luckily not so often) neighbouring countries.Last edited by Kronos on 27-Nov-2011 at 09:29 PM.

| Having had over 20 jobs with a theme of gardening and nursery work , Qualified bus driver did that for 5 years. Just been shown i Have intermittant explosive anger disorder lesions on brain etc which explains alot and gets me down and in trouble alot, Am quite happy in my current role of farmhand picking ginger of one year now. Working with a bunch of roughheads who can take me and forgive and move on has been - hard to find the word here liberating? God is gracious to a screwup like me :) When i'm not modifying my car with a bigger engine and 4wd i'm conducting r &d into low fidelity communications systems using established technologies to equip missionaries, aid organisations etc in remote /hostile locations.
