| Arko's take on "logic":

I once used an Amiga 2000 using your logic, there must have been at least 1999 different Amiga types before it. Or think about all the Windows Versions between Windows3.11 and Windows2000

Trevor has been posting on the forum, if he wanted us to know, he would have told us. He's the one who put his money on the line, he has every right to post info or to withhold it, doesn't matter why. _________________ X1000! Party on Pure Gold Hate tends to make you look stupid... |

nooo, don't do that, you will piss off both him and his other alias on this very site.
that said, he probably is right about windows updates :p
now you can get back to work jahc, you need to make wookiechat x1k spec compatible with a number counter so we know how many units is sold of the irc users.

Presumably because this is sooo small market that those figures might disappoint even some existing enthusiasm. And since Commodore demise and "big numbers" this wasn`t the practice at all, as everyone like to appear like growing business.
For X1000, its far more important to have it avail again, and to have more sales, even its tens and dozens, it generates interest in AmigaOS.

| I'm guessing there is currently 150 X1000 in existence...
Last I remember, Trevor said somewhere that the batches of 150 examples will be made. Going by that, currently there is 105 Beta tester boards + 45 First Contact X1000.

Not a secret. Just not important.
The only users out there so far are the beta testers and a few of the "First Contact" buyers.
I haven't even got my final email yet, so I for one would be annoyed if AmigaKit spent their very valuable time reporting the current state of sales to the general community, rather than preparing my X1000 to be delivered to me.
They can stop to count and tell you how many there are after mine has been delivered. Till then, they've got work to do. |

Lol the whole one hour it would take to make a press release and get it up online? Congratulations on your X1000. |

Wow this question (more on topic than 3/4 of the other posting) was reported as 'Off-Topic' it seems some people are right about this forum ... and I hoped all that [insert swear word here] people went to Amigans ...Last edited by Arko on 19-Feb-2012 at 01:55 PM.

The numbers aren't reported because they are privately held companies that don't need to report to stockholders. They are also not reported because the numbers would be discouraging to the non-Amiga world. Does it really matter if there are 250 or 150? Would 100 units more or less change anyones opinions? |

| My name can be added to the list of X1000 owners, since mine showed up last week.
I don't care how many X1000 owners we end up with eventually, the more the merrier!
I do remember seeing a list of X1000 beta testers at last year's AmiWest Show that had 105 names (or nicknames) on it and Trevor Dickinson did confirm that the "First Contact" X1000 systems were a new production run of motherboards from Varisys, not left over stock from a previous production run of Nemo motherboards that were produced for the beta testers program.
So, there are at least 105, plus what ever number of X1000's that were produced for the "First Contact" X1000 production run and sales. Of course not all of the "First Contact" X1000 buyers have received their computers yet, as it takes time for AmigaKit to assemble, test, and ship each of those computers to the buyers.
I have no problem with A-Eon, AmigaKit and Hyperion keeping the number of licenses and computers secret. It is a typical business practice.
Even the MorphOS Dev. Team does not publish the number of licenses for keyfiles they have sold, or how many individual MorphOS users there are in the World. It was just noticed by one of the MorphOS users that there are sequential numbers that are incremented on the emails sent out during the registration process, so this has given the MorphOS users an indication of how many registrations have been processed, but it is not exactly a publicly announced fact, it is more of a discovered result of curious users that the MorphOS Dev. Team has not denied, or confirmed (at least not that I have seen written).
The numbers of any of the different Amiga inspired groups aren't large enough to make a big deal out of, so none of this really matters. It is just a curiosity of the users, or for some few fanatics, another chance to have a dick measuring contest that is pointless and childish.
If the exact numbers were known, they most likely would be used for negative purposes, not positive motivation or marketing, so why should any of the people, or teams responsible for these systems reveal the numbers publicly, if the the information is only going to be used negatively against them.
Now that the pain medication is kicking in, it is time to get up and go have some more fun with my X1000/OS4.1.5 AND my dual 1.42GHz G4 PowerMac MDD/MorphOS2.7 computers. Last edited by amigadave on 23-Feb-2012 at 07:21 PM. Last edited by amigadave on 23-Feb-2012 at 07:16 PM.
