Thanks my friend. I have registered fine. The HW build is complete:
Inside machine With the case closed.
Following TonyW's comments on cooling, I have put 2 6" case fans in this Jetway Mini ITX case, but have put inline resistors onto them, bringing the voltage down to 7v, making an almost silent machine, with the peace of mind of some warm air dissipation. After leaving on (not doing anything the CPU/GPU is only a little warm, but I will have to see if cooling is adequate after them something to do!
Notice the 64GB SSD - silent and very low power consumption/heat output.
I will work on the OS4.1 install over the coming days. I plan to load up this machine with Mods and suchlike and play through my big Hi-Fi.
One question. Is the Revision C SAM440EP limited to 512MB? I am not worried if it is, as that would be enough for my casual use but if there was more RAM possible, I would populate it for the sake of it. If I have read correctly subsequent Acube boards can do more RAM but this is limited to 512MB on board or, like this one via the DIMM slot.
More pics/info to follow. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

Thanks man!
I have hooked the machine up temporally in the lounge and installing it on my old Evesham TV. It doesn't like the output from the DVI to VGA adaptor so I had to use the normal VGA output for the install but that should be ok on the monitor when I move the machine to my study. I didn't use Sgrab when installed as I was quickly snapping at the screen for now (no doubt there will be some proper screen grabs to come!)
Front view of machine.... Rear of computer. Booting up with latest uboot firmware. OS4.1 update 1 installed! A few installs later and we're booting into OS4.1 update 4 Quickly got the Sam online viewing the best Amiga website! Amigaz Power!
The thing that impressed me was the speed of navigating the workbench - things just apear instantly. The colours are amazing, I am so used to AGA on the desktop when I saw a jpeg I was like wow! I have got some more playing around/configuring to do and no doubt there will be more questions, but I know I am in the right place for that. For example I can't get DVplayer to play a DVD yet workbench can see the volume/files. Oh well lots to play with and get used to when I have the time! Last edited by A1200 on 12-Mar-2012 at 04:08 PM.

I don't know. I just put in my max bid as I am still a classic user at heart but thought it would be nice to have an OS4 machine here. Funny thing is, if it had been an 060 board for the A1200 it would have reached hundreds more and a PPC board for said machine, even more so! Seems the older machines still command a good price. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |
