@damocles

Just Another PeeCee, and overpriced Nice design however. If upper right is DVD or BlueRay slot, it would be nicer if it was full DVD door.

@Dammy

A Weseana E5 case http://www.wesena.co.uk/product.php/7/3/e5 and an Iton keyboard http://www.bluetooth.com/Pages/Product-Listing-Detail.aspx?ProductID=19065

Yawn... Also did some posts get deleted from the announcment page? As the guy who found it all seems to have had his posts removed from c-a.org regarding this.

Ah, yes, they stopped even making cases, presumably its cheaper to just
engrave someone else`s product.

In terms of innovation, C64x case is only CUSA product, so far.

And yes, they dislike anyone who talks about it.

This Mini model should be cheapest of the all, but they should go even up
(Amiga`s are supposed to be pro line for CUSA)

WoW! Seems like Crossover of MacMini and real CBM Amiga 1000
(and yet almost like photoshoped pic, not as real one)

THAT IS CUSA TRADITION!

I see this footer also, constant design presentation using computer graphics and not real pics is also part of their tradition. (promoting non existing products is lame!)

@thread

The Amiga Mini was announced for release by Barry in February to be followed by this in March. Does this mean the Amiga Mini is released now?

By the forum info it is the final decision on design but NOT a production run.

They announced Amiga ... September 2010 or so when they purchased the licence.

Its hard to engrave (joking), likely "development of COS" and market testbed with C64x were delay reasons

@damocles

I like original A1000 case more. However, this design isn´t bad.

2500 USD? I hope this isn´t some sort of competition with a-eon - who will sell more expensive computer...

Well doubt its competing with A-EON, but is a lot of cash for PC with Linux, especially if it is without monitor. We will see how components inside will justify the price in high competing x86 world

It will be either road to ultimate CUSA success or major fail.

In my honest opinion, "retro feeling" should stick to cheap and performant hardware such as ATI CPU+GPU or all integrated motherboard solution. A500 or A1200 look a like would ring more bells, but its CUSA`s call to design its own faith.

Anyone remember this used to be Amiga proud banner?

Maybe they'll point at the X1000 and it's specs to try and justify the price.

The case is the limiting factor in terms of what hardware you can include and therfore how much it will cost to make.
Depending on the cost of the components they fill it with, their profit will probably be anywhere between $1500 and $2000 per unit.

Will anyone actually buy it at that price though?

Dammy?

@all

Did anyone not notice the extremely bad flood fill done on the top of the box, its obviously a real amiga box from the side, but the top ..... you cant even call it photoshopped its so badly done, but is digitally altered....

Does seem funny that they need to photoshop a box if it was a real product.

I think it's getting cold here down to the basement where community has relegated the Amiga's savior. They should instead celebrate the Commodore for trying to make something of what we long ago loved so much.

I do not mind the smaller players who are trying to pull up the hopelessly outdated PPC with history's slowest-developed OS, AmigaOS. If they develop for 10 years until perhaps they reach up to Aros, but I am skeptical because Aros developed fast.

Commodore shows upcoming products before they are finished with the package. Therefore, they must use existing packages with new pictures. Nothing strange at all.
They use naturally existing chassis to get the price down. Good for customers and the existing is really nice.

The price is high on the Amiga-related products. It is deliberately chosen so that the price in itself is an important advertising factor. In addition, the Amiga computers very much beyond ordinary PC.
However, they will sell cheaper versions of the same chassis as well but they will be named VIC instead of pointing out that it is simpler electronics.

Commodore will soon also with a laptop. Can take some years to but it will!

@ vox
Has the community been hunting you down in the basement as well?
I understand why ...

It is once you loose the trust in company. A1200 case, A500 case, pre HTTC design, HTTC design, AmigaMini. To my count, that is the 5th product design showed out of which four completely disappeared off the roadmap.
That is hardly showing upcoming product.

When the specs become avail we will be able to judge price/performance.

So far C64x was heavily overpriced regarding components, no monitor and free OS package. In previous component price calculation what could fit the $2500 components, custom built or already avail systems showed 20% superior, which is about how CUSA charges for name and case.

It might be out of league of ordinary $500 or $1000 PC but there are $2000 graphic workstation with high end graphic cards and CPUs avail. Point is there will be no previously unavail hardware in it, making just the name (and to some extend package, even Mac copy) special.

Its playing on "Mac factor" but beside guru or cool reputation Mac has also outstanding design and quality in external components and extraordinary properitary OS that is a major factor that makes people believe its not ordinary PC. CUSA at this point of its software developing (none but modding Linux under its name) and its own hardware design (C64x case) can`t compete to that.

A way better strategy would be cheaper Amiga for masses, but hey, lets play big.

Commodore is on track to overtake the Mac in the design. Quality of the stuff is already on the same level.

The price of the C64x is not strange at all. Only the case, without content, cost the same as an ordinary PC. Commodore earns no money on the cheaper C64x. I do not know how it is with the more expensive.

What is surprising is that the most expensive C64x is the best-selling, that shows customers clearly C64x is not too expensive.

I think your crusade against the Commodore is on the way most an end, because your answer is just repetition.

Exactly, Commodore charges heavily on the case, unless you really believe its 350$ cost

Its proves its so expensive that it makes most expensive model affordable and having best price/performance ratio

There is always nice place to follow up CUSA mistakes. And its mostly backfire on propaganda and nice cheap emulation of a company CUSA is and is likely to be known.
