A couple of things that bothered me while using the UAE on my SamFlex :
1. The missing scanlines: There was a wonderful post somewhere here about getting the same video out like the classics, but you need a 2nd monitor (CRT). Meanwhile I checked 3 emulators with excellent scanline filter implementation that works fine under the same specs machine (instead of the crappy UAE`s scanlines) : VICE (Pal & scanlines), DOSBox (scanlines) and GngeoNG (excellent scanlines, it`s like having the arcades at home!).
2. Running an adventure or puzzle game goes fine, but when it comes to shoot`em ups or fast scrolling platforms, there is something that makes you feel that it`s not the original thing... I have no frame skip and use the E-UAE-amigfx version (wich feels faster than the Sam optimized version. I hope that with the Jit implementation there will be more CPU time for chipset emulation, so more accurate/close to original feeling... _________________ Ordell Robbie: Is she dead, yes or no? JIT news is sometimes posted on Amigan.net. Recently it was reported that our JIT guy Ragnai worked on it during the Queen's birthday. I do wish the the old fossil had more birthdays. _________________ AmigaOne 500(update 6) / microA1(update 6) / Cubic IDE / Imagine Amiga 4000/1200/500/2500/1000 / VIC20 / C64 / SX64 / C128 / C16 / C116 / Plus/4 / PET B500 Windows 7 / 3GHz AMD Phenom 8GB RAM / Lightwave / Visual C++ |

The ideal screen resolution for EUAE is 400x400, carefully configuring every thing from audio to video settings, should make games playable, at least on my AmigaONE-XE 1ghz, should be playable on Pegasus II and Sam460 as well, they should be faster then my computer.
JIT should make AGA/68020 games, demos and programs work better. _________________ Software developer and forum troll. Please check out my software: Excalibur, Basilisk 2, AmigaInputAnywhere. |

Playable from enjoyable is a bit different. Try Saint Dragon. I remember this game on original HW, and it feels different. The point is to enjoy the gameplay, the fluid scrolling , have a good time etc, not just to see the game (like a youtube movie, -with or without lag-).
I really hope that a JIT UAE will be more close to the real thing... _________________ Ordell Robbie: Is she dead, yes or no? Louis: Pretty much. |

That game is slow on my computer as well, noticed it supported many platforms, so I guess it was not optimized for Amiga500, I remember seeing it on arcade I think.
Anyway Project X, Disposable Hero and Agany play relay well on my computer. _________________ Software developer and forum troll. Please check out my software: Excalibur, Basilisk 2, AmigaInputAnywhere. |

| My Benchmark AGA game will be Pinball Illusions (could be one of the other ones) were you can zoom out to a Hi-res screen resolution and view the whole table. That really lags under the current implementation. If that can become smooth I'll give the new JIT a big thumbs up. Another one is Super Stardust AGA. _________________ Official AmigaOS Website AmigaOS on Facebook Lake Marketing and Events |

| Wow, he did a good joob so far, i hope we sam440ep users will benefit a bit of it. Maybe with a litte luck the money will allow me to upgrade to sam460 in the meantime.

In UAE you can easily enable scanlines! Edit your .uaerc file and set:
gfx_linemode=scanlines gfx_correct_aspect=no
For a better look if you're using an LCD monitor, choose 648*480 as your default screen, although it has been reported that it'll reduce performance on a 440 or a Micro.
Cheers, SP |

Oddly, the blog mostly tells about vacations and moving and why he can't work on it. Somehow I don't think it's a high priority for him. _________________ AmigaOne 500(update 6) / microA1(update 6) / Cubic IDE / Imagine Amiga 4000/1200/500/2500/1000 / VIC20 / C64 / SX64 / C128 / C16 / C116 / Plus/4 / PET B500 Windows 7 / 3GHz AMD Phenom 8GB RAM / Lightwave / Visual C++ |

I guess you'd like the subject line to have ended in a question mark? My only fear is that he might not be able to stop at adding only one, so I won't suggest adding any _________________ Author of the PortablE programming language. Blogs are different from company webpages because they are personal, he might wont there is his personal choice, if he likes to tell everyone that he gone on holiday than that’s his choice. Last edited by NutsAboutAmiga on 14-Aug-2012 at 04:30 PM.
