Huno has just informed me that the release 1.5 of Zelda Solarus DX (English and French versions) has been posted on his website.

The game now uses a new SDL engine (solarus-0.9.2)
Fixed some bugs
Datas updated

Get it on Huno's site

@Franko

Sorry to hear that. All other versions are NOT made by Huno so you'll have to ask those who ported the game to Mac OS X.

On AmigaOS 4, it works flawlessly.

Do you know if it will run on OS4.0 and my BlizzardPCC @240Mhz, or will it be too slow on my Amiga...

It worked here on Snow Leopard. What's your configuration?

It will run but scrolling should be rather slow. Just give it a try

It worked a wee bit on it's first launch, it opens up a window with the language selection then crashed with "Submit report to Apple" error. Now it only opens up a window with a blank screen then crashes...

iMac 2.1Ghz PowerPC G5 with 2.5Gb Ram OSX 10.5.8...

I suppose I may as well give it a try on my OS4 set up...

It might require Intel models only. XCode 4.x doesn't generate code for PPC anymore.

Nah... it's definitely got PPC code in it otherwise my Mac wouldn't be able to even open it all (the mac recognises Intel code on a PPC machine and doesn't even allow you to open Intel only software)...

Could be that it needs a specific gfx card but your stuck with the inbuilt one on an iMac...

I'm stuck with the built-in one on my Mac Mini. It can't be that. SDL works with all graphics cards that I know.

@Samurai_Crow

Thanks anyway... still can't figure out why it's crashing and the "software failure report" it displays is longer than War & Peace and I can't even begin to bring myself to look through it, guess I'll just have to give it a try on OS 4 but I doubt my miggies fast enough...

@Thread

I've enjoyed this game thoroughly right up until the moment I got stuck. I think I need the feather to get the boss key in the 4th dungeon so I can jump over the spikes. I have the hookshot and the super boomerang but neither of them seem to help because I can get past the box but not to the box itself.

There are two boxes in different caves. One was the adventurer's cavern where I can't reach it without jumping over a chasm, and the other I can reach with the hookshot but not without falling to the lower level afterwards. Also, in the dungeon is a teleporter I cannot reach and placing bombs around the paths leading to it reveal no hidden entrances. Can somebody please drop me a hint?

Thanks. Those videos are in French though and, as noted, they don't help with the sticking point we're at.

@Samurai_Crow

Is this a game that will run perfectly on my X1000 w/OS4.1.5 & with its current partially finished video card driver (no 3D yet, IIRC)? Also, is there a fool proof installer that checks to see if all file and library dependencies are in place of your computer, and if not, downloads and installs them, or at least lets you know what is lacking and tells you where you can get them, so you can abort the installation and try again after you have found and installed the missing parts?

I am one of those fools that needs fool proof installation scripts (dislike reading all the documentation, unless absolutely necessary).

@Franko

Probably wont work, or if it does it'll run terribly to a point of being unusable.
It used sdl, which requires 8bit screenmodes minimum, and is quite slow at the best of times. Im not even sure if OS4.x sdl will work on AGA, OS3.x sdl doesnt.

Bit of a shame really, its the sort of game that shoud run perfectly on hardware 20x slower than what it requires (as is the case with a lot of sdl software).
