| I loved Napalm back in the day and still love a dabble now and again. I remember Clickboom advertised for coders to port it to the Mac and PC back in 1999 and 2000 but it never happened. A TCP/IP network multi-player mode was promised but never delivered but at least we had Null-modem 2 player game. However, if the promises had materialised we would have had an Amiga game competitor to Starcraft and we may well have spawned the e-sport craze like below;
IPL4 Starcraft2 Tournament Sunday 8th April 2012
That would have rocked. Sad how the PeeCee and Mac took over
E-Sports rock though. Go Stephano; the French Zerg that holds his own amongst the Koreans!!

| Hmmm I remember ClickBoom annoucing the sequel to Napalm... think it was called "Napalm2:Eurostorm"
I've seen a title-picture or something like that many years ago, and I think there was a website too on clickboom.com for it...... anyone else remember this?

If they released the source code I'm sure someone would be able to enable it, which would be great!
Would allow people to build a mission editor and a scirmish mode vs. CPU, which sadly many Amiga RTS's lacked if they had the coding skills/time and the source code wasnt really hacked together!
(As far as I am aware someone has been working on Napalm as a personal project to iron out the bugs in the exe to get it to run much better & natively on OS4 systems - their is a thread on Amigans somewhere, had a quick look and cant find it, he can only go so far with it and I think he wishes he had the source code).
Maybe petition ClickBoom to release sources?? Its not like it will do them any harm. _________________

Check this video and you will see graphics style well known from Napalm.

there wasnt much to screw really (work conditions got better after MYST , but Amiga market went downhill even more than before and it was a pretty anon title compared to Quake and Myst.. marketing wise).
Not all of the team went to Cypron.
There was talks about handing out the source code at one point but i can't exactly remember what happened with that.
Euroburn was basically the PC game and never went beyond that teaser image (and some other bits).
The only thing Clickboom can help us with is to give us the liscense (if they have paid the bills that is), the source code must come from the developers but i guess the sources are gone now.

ClickBoom also "announced" they would solve the $125 Nightlong issues (faulty CDs). I'm still waiting. |

yeah good point brandonlee , that was a real mess :( shame really as the game is good and should have sold more if it had not been for the mistake done by the cd pressing house they used.
That said, my nightlong cds is ok but i am not sure how many users had the good print or the bad print._________________ Brand new website... www.amigaguru.com |

I do get sound with normal amiga chipset,I mean sound card ie something like the prelude sound card.
NIGHTLONG: put cds in a PC and copy files over for compatibility. _________________ The Machine: Bride Of The Pin•Bot by Williams Electronics |

| I just wrote an email to cypron studios a few days ago asking for the NAPALM sources or some hint where the might be obtainable from. No answer yet (as expected and as it always also have been with emails sent to clickboom).
BTW: Thread regarding NAPALM on AOS4 can be found here! ALFKIL did a very excellent job here! But anyway for me NAPALM run on A4000 PPC AOS4.0 as well as on EUAE on Peg2 (somehow playable). Last edited by Reth on 14-Apr-2012 at 08:46 PM. Last edited by Reth on 14-Apr-2012 at 08:44 PM.

No, but it is the one running on AOS4 (I already tried it on Peg2 AOS4.1 latest update). But starting with the 2nd level enemy attacks too fast with all of its units. No chance to survive. Also the statistics graphics and the load/save from main menu are scrambled. Alfkil knows about the timing issue but currently cannot do annything more. The only issue I recall was them all being called "Q:", but that was a file system issues that could be solved by not using CacheCDFS (which I did). |

There is unofficial tcp/ip patch for Napalm. I've tested it briefly, but I think it needed pretty lagless connection and I didn't have any friend with as fast connection as I had back then. Should test nowadays again... anyway we got the game working with it too, but still sticked with serial cable on local play.
I remember hearing that there was newer version around too, but this is all I got... |
