Hi,

I just downloaded Perl (version 5.8.5.06) from OS4Depot and have unarced it. I'm kind of stuck on what I really need to do next. There does not seem to be an install icon. I don't seem to find any
documentation either. There seem to be some libraries and stuff, but I don't really know where they should go. Can anyone provide me some guidance or point me to some documentation which will help? Thanks.

Per needs to beinstalled in the SDK.

So from the README file on os4depot.net

This build has been configured to expect its lib to be in SDK:Local/ckib2/lib/perl5/5.8.5 and the binaries in SDK:Local/C This makes it compatable with the current SDK structure. To install unpack the archive and copy the contents directory SDK/ to your SDK: assign. It's recommended to add chmod 0777 T: to your user startup, so that perl may create temporary files correctly.

After that I recomend instaling perl patch.


What did you want to do with perl?

As perl is extremely unix in nature, it kind of expects the SDK to be present (for sh, gcc make etc etc) . And it's included in the currebt SDK.

So it may be easier for you to install the SDK and then just add the "perlpatch.lha" from os4 depot.net
