| I still ain't owned a PC using an Amiga emulator or even the Pc generic version of Octamed which can play one of the 8 tracks songs I wrote on my A1200, but it fell off a chair and don't know how to fix it. It was great software of the time pulling everything it could out of the hardware. THose times are gone.

Huh? I have my A1200 right here next to my Sam440. I love it dearly, but if I needed to make some room I'd pack it carefully away and keep my Sam machine up and running because it runs most of the Amiga stuff I like better than the 1200 -- by a very wide margin. I appreciate Andy's Blender port quite a bit and have enjoyed running it, but I'm not really running a lot of ports from other operating systems otherwise.

Sigh... why, for fun! This is for what I like to do on a computer for fun, not work, man.
Industry standard formats? Like jpeg, TIFF, GIF, PNG, WMV, FLV, mpeg, mp4, RTF, PDF, MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF, DOCX... or what? I can do all this with AmigaOS. _________________

Name an industry standard that started as a standard and not as some code-monkeys pet project for fun please?
Oh yes, Image Formats, Movie Formats,.... it is mostly data recognition and processing...right then
Moving along... we have Identified Protocols, File Formats and what else...
Is *working* with them all going to help? ... not really...
We choose this OS for *enjoyment* not *work* ... if you want to deal with computers as a tool then go be a trollgasmic tool elsewhere...
I personally choose to have a computer system I can enjoy working with at home, "industry standard" can suck my ass after a week of good curry... especially vindaloo...
It doesn't matter what anyone else uses... what do *you* enjoy? that is *your* decision and what serves that best?
For me and others on AmigaWorld.net , AOS4, AOS3, MOS and AROS provide that answer...
so please... go take your trollgasm and enjoy yourself elsewhere

What AmigaOne model you are using there again? Is it AmigaOne 5000 or X 2000 Plus? _________________ Free IRC client for Amiga: www.amirc.org |

Can u view a modern website on it? Does it show Flash (Don't give me the Apple doesn't support it ####e), Javascript, Java, CSS, Xhtml ?
I'll never buy another Amiga unless it has an up to date browser. I am a web developer and have enough issues with IE as it is! _________________ Dark Lord Design Wicked Solutions For Damned Problems |

OWB (whichever version) is more standards compliant than IE even if it doesn't have Flash ot Java, good websdevelopers don't need those two anyway (well they wouldn't if it wasn't for those pesky clients )

IE is ####, fair do's. that amount of hacks to get it compliant is just shocking. _________________ Dark Lord Design Wicked Solutions For Damned Problems |

A good web developer caters for all browsers, which almost makes it impossible. Most jobs tend to be fixing the issues of the lazy developers b4_________________ Dark Lord Design Wicked Solutions For Damned Problems |

I'm not having any trouble viewing websites here, at least not the ones I frequent. But I'm sure not arguing that the platform is up to snuff for every task.
Anyway, you don't want an Amiga NG machine and of course should not buy one. But you came on here and said you don't see "why the hell" anyone would buy one. I just told you why I've bought two AOS4 machines and am buying a third. For similar reasons I have registered MorphOS for a PPC Mac and toy about with AROS as well.
Look, within the past hour I was in the AmigaWorld IRC room, and at the same time you were on here talking about how outdated this forum software is and how there's no reason to mess about with Amiga stuff anymore you were on the IRC channel talking about how outdated IRC is and how you don't see its purpose in a world where there's Twitter. (A whole different animal if you ask me, by the way.)
What in the world is the deal? If you're not interested in this stuff (anymore?), why seek out venues where it is discussed to bash it? TJ here is proud of his new X1000 and getting a lot of enjoyment from it and the platform. He obviously enjoys making these videos too, and I've enjoyed watching them and appreciate his enthusiasm.
Hey, he's a joyful convert from the realms of both Atari and Apple. I say it's an accomplishment we hooked him -- a testament to that old "Amiga magic," which still must have some merit even now. !

I'm not bashing it, I love it. Alway feel gutted with the situation. I'd just love to buy a top spec Amiga which can do everything my PC can do and better. I still write all my websites by hand like I used to.
I am frustrated with Ubuntu too. The video editing software is horrendous. It crashes all the time and it can't do what bog standard Windoze software can _________________ Dark Lord Design Wicked Solutions For Damned Problems |

Actually, OWB is very good. My girlfriend is using it daily watching movies or youtube and visiting web sites like she did using Google Chrome on XP.

Sounds good :)
Wasn't wanting to be negative, but it's hard to see where the Amiga fits in the world these days.
It's great a place like Amiga World exists, as just chatting as made me smile again _________________ Dark Lord Design Wicked Solutions For Damned Problems |

My iPhone does not have a tripod adapter.
Maybe I can use some duct tape next time just for you.
