Question like in subject. I only know of some unfinished project "SCIONS". Is there any finished? I'm a big fan of WarCraft thus I'm asking. I'd like to play such game on Amiga with AGA chipset.

@RNS-Amiga-Scientist

How about the predecessor of Warcraft, Dune 2?

DUNE 2 is superb and satisfies my needs of a good RTS but I'm looking for any new strategy possibly with RPG elements like in WarCraft.

@RNS-Amiga-Scientist

Earth 2140
Napalm
Tiny Troopers

You can run Warcarft in shapeshifter or Fusion on a AmigaOS3.x, on AmigaOS4.x you have Basilisk II.

I think you mean ShapeShifter and Fusion.

Another nice RTS: Exodus: The Last War

Works good with 68030 and 16 MB RAM.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Thank you for a reminder. I've got original Napalm and didn't finish one campaign (Robots' one). I think I'll play this game once again. As of Earth 2140 - what are the minimum requirements and where to buy this game?

We got Wargus on OS4 , it plays Warcraft 1 and 2 native (completed both many times in it too).
Not sure how much work it would be to do an AGA version of it tho.

http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=game/strategy/stratagus.lha

Some test games is included and there's a bucket load more on the website (free).

Warcraft 1 and 2 is not included ofcourse but you can use GOG version or any other version available out there for pc.

there's also an bug fix for it (also on OS4depot)

Edit: Earth 2140 is RTG only so no AGA support.

@olegil

Battle Craft was never finished, which is really a shame.

If any one feel like it, we could try and put together a small group and try to make a game.

I think most have been covered already so I cant offer any other suggestions, but I must admit to being a little surprised more of these type of games didnt happen towards the end of the amigas commercial software life given that the hardware copes fine with the game style. There's quite a few different gamestyles that the amigas custom chipset can deal ok with, but for some strange reason developers towards the end instead focused on what the amiga doesnt cope as well with instead (doom clones). There are a few exceptions, but I dont think it'd be a stretch to say 3/4 of the later games made that take advantage of an expanded classic are fps games. Where's the polygon racer gamse, the enhanced dungeon master/eotb clones, the zelda style games (an expanded a1200 couldve done a great version on par with anything the psx/saturn had), and so on and so forth?

Oh well, such is life. I just think its a shame we never got many games that really take advantage of AGA + faster cpu + fast RAM.

@Yssing

Funny you should say that. Ive spent the last few days fooling with some system friendly code for a C&C clone. More of an experiment in learning to use graphics in a non hardware hitting way thus far to be honest, but a coincidence nonetheless :)

Cool, what language do you use?
I was thinking about using amiblitz or perhaps portableE

@Yssing

Ive always been a fan of Blitz Basic2, but until recently had barely touched Amiga mode for anything game related. Now that Ive got my Amithlon box up and running again (yay!) Ive been putting in a bit of effort to learn to use some of the system friendly graphics and sound functions the Amiblitz3. Im still not as proficient with it as I am programming the hardware directly, but I really want to make a game that will work on my amithlon and MOS boxes.

Having said this though I also like the idea of making something akin to a "C&C light" to begin with that'll run nicely on my a1200 'cos I can delve into that a lot quicker 'cos Im better versed in programming the hardware directly.

So, long story short, Blitz, in one form or another is my language of choice :) Im ok with C/C++ as well, but to be honest it's not a lot of fun :) AMOS Pro is the other side of the coin, it's a heck of a lot of fun, but a person really needs to do some planning to try to avoid its weaknesses. This in itself I get a kick out of (trying to fit a square peg in a round hole (as demonstrated with my texture mapped "3d" road video I posted over at eab)), but Im not sure it's a great idea to make a real game with my square peg round hole fetish in mind :)

All said and done I have a preference for some form of Blitz, but Im flexible if need be.
