The other night I watched this amazing documentary called "Strange Behaviours" on the Nat Geo channel...

It had me in stitches just watching the very strange behaviour of the people in it but more importantly than that, it opened to my eyes to the sheer hell people with such debilitating handicaps like this have to go through in their everyday lives, as they are shunned, mocked & even feared by some sections of our society...

3 Men With Tourettes On A Holiday...

I posted a clip of the documentary on YouTube to try and help highlight the plight of people suffering from this debilitating illness and to try and encourage more people to take notice of this illness and to try and understand it better...

Much to my surprise one of the guys in it "Paul Stevenson" has contacted me and thanked me for helping to highlight this awful handicap...

Just wanted to say if you ever get the chance to watch the full documentary then please do so, it's a real eye opener and very educational and shows that even in todays "enlightened society" there are still those amongst us who because of their own fears & prejudices still make life miserable for others that their own ignorance prevents them from understanding...

Reckon we can all learn something valuable from those less fortunate than ourselves...

@A1200

Jokes... me... neveeeeer...

Damn interesting series that "Strange Behaviours", a real eye opener that makes you realise just how lucky some of us are...

The part of the program with the guy with Narcolepsy is funny too but scary at the same time as I can sort of relate to his problems too with my condition...

Thing I've always found with people who have disabilities is their amazing ability to deal with their problems with humour which they seem to do more easily than those who are more fortunate in their health than them...

Life is strange but no matter how bad things may seem, there's always a funny side to it, you just need to find it that's all...

@Franko

Not to be disrespectful, but we could start a "finish that joke" thread. "Did you hear you hear the one about the three guys with Tourettes on a holiday in France? They ordered tourettes and they got scrambled eggs." (Doesn't make sense.)

Edit: made it funnier.

@thinkchip

No disrespect taken I assure you...

I'm not any good at jokes to I'll give it a miss...

I'm still trying to figure out your joke though... can I have a clue please...

PS: Even with the edit you just made, I still don't get it...

@Franko

There's nothing to get. It's nonsense.

Ah I get it now (I think)...

I spent ages googling French food in case they had some grub that was called "Tourettes" and I had just never heard of it before...

Never found any though but I did find a lot of links to some, well... let's just say interesting French movies though...

Wonder why I didn't get it myself though as I'm usually quite good at nonsense, hope I'm not coming down with something and going to end up being normal...

@Franko

There's a joke about an out of work pianist with tourrettes but the contents would break the TOS here so i'll leave it to people to find it.

On the subject of debilitating illnesses or conditions I suggest watching a documentry called the boy who's skin fell off.

@Rob

I'll goggle for that one later...

I've seen that documentary too, it would bring a tear to a glass eye watching the pain that wee man went through...

Like I said though it's folk like that and their amazing ability to still have a damn good sense of humour that I find inspiring...
