Ok, guess I´m screwed

I just started downloading the newest AROS Vision on my µA1 (for my A1200 060) and shortly after that the machine freezed ....

I did a reboot and nothing came up, only some garbled gfx !

So I pulled all the plugs, tried a new PSU, replaced the Batterie (three times !!!!) and also tried another monitor, another mouse and another keyboard to no avail

Any more ideas ? CPU Module ? Mainboard ? What can it be ?

@Fred_AROS

Buy a X1000, Keep the (expensive) party going!

Party like its 1999 and your shopping in Dixons for a beige box

Seriously, buy one. If no one at all had bought the A1000 there would have been no A500

@Fred_AROS

The fact that you get some output means the CPU module is working. Maybe the video chip is broken.

@Dirk-B

I can´t ... all I get after power on is some gfx garbage on the screen ...

@wawa

the A1200 is online and downloading right now, I just started downloading on the micro because the A1200 is in another room

@Rob

Ok, and since that one is soldered on the pcb and the micro does NOT allow a PCI gfx card ..... I´m really screwed ... maaaaaaaan .....

@Fred_AROS

remember to give aros its own partition. its good to have it side by side with aos in its current state. it is not yet suitable as replacement;)
if you decompress the iso to an empty bootable partition as is it will be able to bootstrap all by itself without further tweaking.

@wawa

I only have to do an "update" since 1.2 is allready on HD

But first of all I have to get my µAOne working again since it´s my main computer and without it I cannot continue my work and my hobby

Well, most of it I can do on my A1200 too but it´s a bit "slower" then ....

downloading aros.. isnt it fate? bet will be difficult to replace your micro without spilling a fortune, since it sounds pretty serious i must admit. still ive seen there are some sams ssecond hand, could got cheaper by the time.

@wawa

fate ? Dunno but since I got no PC in the house anymore I cannot use AROS as a full replacement for my µA1 and btw. OS4 is a nice OS too

Yea, sound like a heavy issue here .... I just tried another Memory Module to no avail either ... I will try serial debug tomorrow, guess I can use the PC of my neighbour (I hope) but since it does nearly nothing I guess I will not get a decent serial output either ....

@Fred_AROS

neither i have aros x68 machime, but why not to use a1200 for the serial debug, only one cheap adapter needed.
you might have a better luck with crisot though than all the late a1 victims, apparently the megarray connector is impossible to repair, surface mounted chips might be.

@Fred_AROS

Did you tried to boot from AmigaOS CD? Do you get to the UBoot screen at all?

Do you have a null modem cable? If yes maybe you can try to hook it between your µA1 and your A1200? This may be an important step to understand what the problem really is.

@abalaban

No UBoot screen at all. Only some colorfull gfx fragments.

So no, I cannot try booting AOS CD

I have a nullmodem cable ready what settings do I use for Amiterm on my A1200 ?

@Fred_AROS

Have you tried to(re)fit the cpu module/card?

I have and A1-XE and had some problems mahine not booting. Took out cpu card, cleaned and (re)adjusted heatsink and machine booted again.

@Fred_AROS

Check your UBoot flash chip, it's in a socket, could be loose and/or need re-seating into the socket.

@Fred_AROS

I had once colors on the boot-screen and that was with an
incompatible gfx-card, so probably yours is smoked.

I think you should contact amigacenter, he repairs A1's.
