Okay, I've just had a knee-jerk reaction and bought something of ebay, without truly looking into it...guess I got a little excited!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170869047661#ht_500wt_1363

I intend to take a few pieces from it and sell the rest.

Going by some of the prices on ebay, was it worth it?

I guess I'm just looking for someone to say, 'yes, you did well', or 'NO!, you idiot'

@Gaeokerena

Well, if you're happy with it and enjoy it then it's obviously worth it. Seems like a fair enough catch and some of the not needed parts could bring a few bucks back in I guess.

@Amiga_3k

This is turning out to be an expensive hobby!

Does anyone have experience with the Delphina and can it play mp3 files?

@Gaeokerena

That's why it is called a hobby .

Back in the days I would have loved to own a Delphina. Unfortunately, I didn't have the money back then and when I did have the money, the cards no longer were available. Or I was hoping to get the Concierto for the PicassoIV. Time does weird things with human memory .

You can read more about it at the individual computers site.

I think you made a good deal there. The turbo-card alone would sell for 100 EUR or more. :) Congratulations!

Yes very good deal, eBay still suprises sometimes.

If the Delphina comes packaged loose, remember to make sure it is attached correctly to the clockport first time as you won't have a second chance.

@Gaeokerena

I remember this only very vaguely, but I think on those days long ago my friend said that I think it was maybe prelude the other sound card commonly available for Amiga, that difference between prelude and Delphina had been that you were able to process sounds in realtime on delphina with delphina chip. And I think he also metnioned something that basically Delphina could be even best Sound card in world at that time for some sound manipulation things, but that it was having more features in hardware level, than was supported by any software.

But i recall this all only very very faintly. So i might be talking holes to my head.

Yes you did very well, you idiot
Seriously though, good price, cool little setup.

Don't know much about the soundcard but always wanted one.

Let us know how it goes.

@Rudei

Thanks :)

Anyhoo, the items arrived yesterday, but the packaging was really very poor; I'm surprised it arrived in one piece

Everything works, with the exception of the Delfina. The clock port cable looks like its been melted (read: 'black') on both the first and last pins. I just hope there has been no damage to the card as I really wanted this part

Amigakit have a new one for sale here, but on it says not suitable for Delfina. Anyhow know why?

Maybe you need the 9cm cable since that doesn't say anything about it being unsuitable. Best check with them first though.

@Gaeokerena

Congratulations on your purchase - looks like a bargain!

Regarding the Delfina - The damage you mentioned is consistent with someone who wired the clock port cable the wrong way around when installing it.

Unfortunately as mentioned already you have to plug the clock port cable in the right way on the Delfina, otherwise the card will be damaged permanently, with white hot heat in one or more chips, smoke and all if left more than a few seconds.

Having done this accidently myself I can verify this happens....very luckily for me the Delfina still worked afterwards (I noticed within 2 seconds of plug in), but that is not the normal result. I had a USB clock port expansion that refused to work again after plugging in the wrong way and I had to throw it away and buy another one....I discovered another issue I was having was also a malfunctioning clock port on the A1200 and after I got another 1200 I had no further problems with clock port expansions.

Unfortunately pin 1 (red stripe) on clock port devices is not consistent. It is very important to read the documentation with the card to make sure you have the red striped cable end aligned to the correct side of the clock port.

I'll take a guess (I don't know this for sure) that the Delfina can only be used with a shorter clock port cable due to degraded loss of data or power signal over the long distance that affects that particular card more than other clock port expansions - Amigakit is selling a 9cm cable with no warning about not being able to be used on the Delfina - I know I was using a 9cm cable on mine without problems.

Good luck!

Catcha,
Epsilon

@Epsilon

I do hope the delfina is ok. The seller said it was working even with the burnt cable and I can't see any damage to the actual board.

I will probably order the 9cm cable to test it out.

@all

Got my PIV with the Audio Card,Zorroboard,kb and all under that price. Included 1200mb towered. Now trying to tower it to the PowerTower with angles for pcmcia and kb adapters offcourse. So excited I can not power it up, my bad.

Maybe Delfina too? There shoud be a cable to connect but don't know if not to the PIV.
