There are other FPGA computers out there, and each of them lacks the one idea that I have put into Clone-A. The idea is simple, but very effective. Simple enough to be copied just from hearing it, but complicated enough to require lots of man-years to implement it properly.
Just this one thing: Clone-A is not dead.

I remember a video presentation about the Clone-A done by Jens, but it's hard to find all links are dead. Is there any other source?

partial transcript of what I -think- you are referring to
Apparently it was a torrent, judging by the op.

| Good news, and I think Jens has done the right thing by not talking about it - he knows what information vampires people in the Amiga community can be.
I would be interested to know what the special sauce he mentions is.
Also good to have another independent chipset recreation, it will ensure the original Amiga hardware will live on into the future.
One thing that the FPGAArcade has brought up is that good 68060s are now extremely difficult to source. So I expect the CloneA will be going down the custom 68k core path like the other solutions. That will be another simple solution. Either that, or it's using an FPGA with a fast ARM/PPC core that runs an emulation of the 68000. |

Yes, letting others come into the retro Amiga game was a great idea.

Last time I heard of clone A they talked about "something game realated" most games where running under OCS/ECS on a plain 68000 and did not use an OS at all. It seams as if Jens's planed something in the range of a low cost retro gaming system. Well most of his other developments are not going into the AmigaNG direction, Jens is specialiced to low cost retro stuff. Last edited by Arko on 29-Jun-2012 at 09:05 PM.
