I purchased the wireless pcmcia easynet package from amigakit a month or so ago and using the supplied software with WEP works great, but I would like to move to WPA using the prism2v2 drivers.

However, what originally seemed a simple upgrade has proven to be a massive pain...

Can anyone give me a give step-by-step guide to how I can do this please?

@Gaeokerena

I did a successful firmware update on my Easynet PCMCIA card(Netgear MA-401 v2.5) yesterday!

I read all of the info on this page - http://linux.junsun.net/intersil-prism/
and I think it´s a little bit over complicated..

This is what I did on a laptop running Ubuntu 11.04.

1. Downloaded and installed "hostap" with Ubuntus package manager.

2. Inserted my Neatgear wifi card in the laptop.

3. Opened a terminal window and run this command - "hostap_diag wlan0"

4. Got an output of my cards firmware which was lower than the firmware needed for WPA(Primary1.1.1 and Stationary1.7.4).

5.Downloaded primary firmware - pk010101.hex and Stationary firmware sf010704.hex from here http://linux.junsun.net/intersil-prism/firmware/1.7.4/

6.Put the firmware files in the same directory as "prism2_srec" (Use search function).

7. Opened a terminal window and run this command - "sudo prism2_srec -v -f wlan0 pk010101.hex sf010704.hex"

8. A couple of seconds later it told me it it successfully flashed the card.

@khayoz

Just got knowledge from "jdryyz" over at EAB.net that my above tutorial doesn't work if your card is under a certain firmware rev.

I will update this post as soon he gets back too me with the solution.

Edit: Had a hard time searching this post... wi-fi wifi pcmcia prism2 v2.2 flash netgear firmware stationary 1.7.4 primary 1.1.1 linux laptop srec
