Oh no!
Yet another Amigan has more powerfull AOS4 HW than I.

Well... I perhaps save a few cents per year in electricity with my SAMmini vs SAM460...

Thats because an Amigaone 500 costs Euro 843.00 today.
A Sam440ep-flex motherboard + 1MB +OS4.1 cost Euro 742.00 3 years ago.

Any more suggestions on fixing the sound?

Having broken sound completely ruins the experience of playing games, watching movies and listening to music. Since I have not heard from any AmigaOne 500 owners that can confirm onboard sound is working for them, I can only assume that this part of the AO500 design is broken.

Unless I am able to fix this during the weekend I will have to return it and have my money refunded. Considering how Acube is advertizing the AmigaOne 500 I was not expecting to have to battle with something as basic as the onboard sound.

I hope someone can help.

@Androxyn

One person who I can recall saying that sound works well on the Sam460ex is Hans.

Did you check to see if the sam 460ex_setup is running or not ?

Yeah, as I mentioned on the Hyperion boards I don't have that entry under Prefs/WBStartup (I assume this is the correct place to look).

@Androxyn

This would be the correct location.
I would assume that this is not on the Acube default set up but has to be added by the user.
What Graphics card and SATA card are you using and do you have the onboard SATA port active ?

@Spectre660

Gfx card: HD4650 (but listed as RV700 in Ranger)
SATA: The 4-port one that goes in the PCI slot (Sil3114?)

If I have the onboard SATA port active... I was looking around in the Uboot menus some days ago, and I think in that menu where you select between PCI and SATA, it was the SATA that was selected.

@Androxyn

All I can do is gather info on your setup at the moment.
This seems to be a standard config.

I have ordered an AmigaOne 500 myself but wont get it for another couple of weeks of so.
I will add my own graphics card so I wont have a standard setup.Also the SATA card listed is the SII3512 .

One area of focus for me for of the sound problem will be the included power supply with the system .
Think that it is this one
http://www.lc-power.de/index.php?id=185&L=1

Hmm. Minimum 400W power supply for a Radeon HD4650 and 500W recommended in the PC world.

@Spectre660

It doesn't seem to be so powerhungry based on this: Click

@Androxyn

Who am I to argue with the manufactures of these cards. They say minimum is a 400W PSU.
I intend to use a Radeon HD4850 . The recommended minimum for this is 450W .

Just to update: ACube sent me another driver (older version I think) which made sound go from "unusable" to "ok" (I still hear some "noice" in the far distance, so it is not perfect, but it is no longer bad enough to bother me). So I'll scratch that off my list of worries. Next: buy DVPlayer 0.76 and see how fullscreen performs... *preparing list for new worry*

@Androxyn
yeah i have a 460 and the sound works well. Not untill i installed the release driver and mixer did it work properly for me. I would suggest u try plugging in different speakers/ cable and see if that makes a difference.
