Really liked Eludes demo.

And the music is brilliant. Need to get the soundtrack and put it on my playlist while at the computer.

@Shufflepuck

Thanks for the links.

I will have to give running Void and Rebox a go an real Amiga hardware as they both look rather good to me.

I much prefer seeing demos running real hardware to just watching a video of them, but maybe thats just me

@Dwyloc

Agree 100%, you can't beat Demos on real hardware

Here are the links:

And speaking of Elude, their "Shake off the Dust" (2nd in the Amiga demo comp at Revision 2011) was finalist as "Best Demo" at the 10th Scene.org Awards (honouring the best demoscene releases of the last year):

@Shufflepuck

I wonder how does "Shake off the Dust" behave on real, not emulated, classic compared to youtube video. Pretty impressive demo.

This year's productions are also interesting, the first part of "Reboxer" has really nice atmosphere, it's a kind of reinterpretation of pre 90s travels into the world of 3D. Both demos (I mean "Vold" and "Reboxer", the third one is just a "Vold" excerpt) containt "boxes" motif, which is an interesting coincidence and I consider C64-like-"boxes" part of "Vold" the best part of demo.

My A1200 runs "Shake off the Dust" exactly the same as the emulated YouTube video

I have trouble running a lot of the 060 demos due to lack of fast ram (I only have 32), lots of demos seem to either require almost the entire 32mb free (I only have around 30mb free after WB loads). Some demos need 64mb.

Nice! I used to watch demos on my A1000, A2000 and A1200 for hours. I always loved the ones that started very simple, and then added more and more effects one on top of another until you thought the Amiga would just explode - then they would do even more!

So, anyone got a download link for the ENDpart soundtrack for this demo?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5tPG_hFTwc

I know its kinda offtopic since its from Revision 2012, but this thread got me back
into demo watching mode and that last track is just amazing.

Would be intresting to see demos for Amiga X1000/PPC OS4, tho I assume
the democoders enjoy pushing the limitations of the older hardware....?

Not at all.

Just again, morons who organized Assembly, assumed that amiga has to be cheap.

AGA was underpowered crap, even in 1992.

No a mind-blowing demo, with unjustifiable slow-pace, but in some way valuable, because of scarcity of PPC demos - yes, PPC - be aware that you're comparing PPC production to Amiga AGA ones.

By the way, I consider restricting hardware / demo specs the only way for demoscene to survive, given the immense computing power of modern computers. Nowadays you can create amazing hi-tech demo, but it won't cause the wow! factor, because hi-tech effects are all around us (games, movies). So that's why I value most the good demos done on low-spec computers.

Well, I enjoy watching all kinds of demos as long as they are wellmade, be it on the PC, Amiga Classic or nextgeneration, Spectrum, c64 etc etc etc.
The medium isnt the main issue, its creativity and knowing the limitation the coders, gfx, and musicians face if they create on a older/limiting platform.
I think lft is a really good example of that, plus the guys still producing amazing work on the c64.

That said; I wouldnt mind seeing what the talented groups can do on a PPC

I find it amazing the winning demo (Spacecut) PC Windows, although 8800GT does not work,
Now it has become fashionable to use 3D vector, many particles disintegrating etc.
On the Amiga are trying to do the same but much calculation for a 060 processor.

However there are excellent examples as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IgUuwrQKno

By the way where are TBL?

According to Exotica:

Quote:
Most members of TBL are today employed in the games industry. Dutch members Danny, Tim and Lowlife work at Eidos Interactive (http://www.eidos.co.uk), in the UK; Kalms, Offa, Eq, Rubberduck och Louie all work at Digital Illusions Computer Entertainment (http://www.dice.se) in Sweden. Rodney also works/worked on games.

Starstruck is still one of my favourite AGA demos:

http://youtu.be/-wtMEBPWeMo

But Man, Captured Dreams is still number 1 IMHO:
