Hello,

So I have spare monitor floating around the office, I have it now plugged into the on-board graphics card, my large monitor is connected to my radeon card.

How on earth do I set the spare monitor up? On the monitor it just reads 'out of range' I suspect its trying to Mirror the main monitor which is definitely well above the support resolution.

In Screenmode there is no mention of the on-board graphics card and the Monitors page tab at the top of the window is inaccessible.

Anyone can help?

@djrikki

Is the appropriate monitor icon in DEVS:monitors ? If not drag it out of storage and see where that gets you.

Make sure you have boot CD handy in case you end up not being able to use either monitor!

Which hardware BTW?

@djrikki

Read Trevors dual monitor setup pdf on a-eon.com, it's intended for X1000 users but the software setup is the same.

@djrikki

To my understanding SAM440ep mini has still some trouble with another radeon, because it has M9 on board. radeon on PCI can not therefore use DMA and IIRC miniGL fails.

But do you have SAM460?
It might work in dual monitor setup with it's onboard 2D GPU + Radeon.

SAM 460.

In Devs:Monitors I now have SiliconMotion 502 to join the PCIGraphics icon that was already in there.

@Severin

Asks for username/password which I don't have.

@djrikki

The X1000 Dual Monitor guide can only be downloaded by X1000 users.
Unavailable to us users of the newer Radeon HD drivers on other system.

@djrikki

Just got it to work on my sam460ex.

You need to have both Radeon and PCIGraphics monitor driver in Devs:Monitors .

I have detect settings automatically selected for both Radeon and PCIgraphics in
Screenmode Preferences Monitor Tab.
I aslo had to define a public screen using Screens prefs using a SiliconMotion screenmode to get the program to open on it

@Spectre660

Do you have the PCIGraphics one in Dev:monitors as well?

( I have detect settings automatically selected for both Radeon and PCIgraphics in
Screenmode Preferences Monitor Tab. )

I cannot reach the Monitors tab, I do not see Silicon Motion mentioned anywhere in ScreenMode or Screens - it does appear in Ranger though.

@djrikki

Yes. PCIGraphics and Radeon are both in DEVS:Monitors.
What you can try is to double click Both the Radeon and the PCIgraphics icon in Devs:Monitors and then start Screenmode prefs. Once both Show up in the Monitors tab
Save.

@Spectre660

Tried this. Again Silicon Motion won't show in the listview in the first page and the Monitors page tab remains ghosted.

I messed about with Picasso ages ago trying to get RunInUAE to open screens correctly - where can I find its 'settings file' so I can overwrite it with the original file on the installation cd.

I dont have a Picasso settings file.
The default location is SYS:Devs/Picasso96Settings.
I cant find one on the Sam460ex install CD either .

Although the guide is aimed at A1-X1000 systems I thought that the Dual Graphic card installation guide was available for download by registers RadeonHD users. If this is not the case I will arrange for installation guide to be made available for all users who have registered access to the RadeonHD drivers.

Edited: to correct text

UPDATE: All registered Radeon HD users should now be able to download the Dual-Graphic card installation instructions from the A-EON Technology Website

@djrikki

Also check you OS components as I was not able to get this to work when I first got my machine with Update 5 . Note that I have the newest Radeon HD driver, version 0.54.
The onboard video has a max of 1280x1024.

@TrevorDick

Thank you.
It seems as if the newer OS components make the setup easier.
The PCIGraphics monitor driver is include for Amigaone 500/Sam460ex since the first
AmigaOS 41. CD for it (Update 2).Only the Radeon driver and the PCIGraphics driver need to be in Devs:Monitors for using the both the PCIE card and onboard graphics .
No need to have the SiliconMotion 502 driver in devs:Monitors .

I booted without the PCIgraphics driver in DEVS:Monitors and all I had to do to get the Onboard video modes was to double click on the PCIGraphics driver in Storage. The SM502 modes then showed up in Screenmode prefs.

@djrikki

I normally use a customized Devs:Picasso96Settings file to be able to have 320x200 and 320x240 screenmodes available and stretched fullscreen.

On the X1000, once I installed two RadeonHD card, using any of the custom modes causes a crash, so chances are you'll have to disable the custom modes on the RadeonHD if you experience the same issue when programs using BestModeID() get one of the custom mode on the RadeonHD (unless the crash doesn't happen if the second card isn't a RadeonHD).

Well I had 4 monitors on my A4000, but 1 went bang, so I now have 3...

It's easy with OS3.9 + CGX..

"There are SAM440EP user who RADEON9200 card is in your machine?"

I think fingus has 9250 on his SAM440ep-mini.
